Hasbro has joined forces with British developer Jagex for an upcoming Transformers Online title. Predominantly known for their free-to-play PC based RuneScape MMORPG franchise, Cambridge based Jagex have intimated in the past that they are looking into console development. For now, however, there is no platform information related to Transformers Online.
Mark Gerhard, CEO at Jagex Games Studio, is buoyant about the project, stating:
Transformers is one of the most iconic brands in the world and we are delighted to team up with Hasbro in order to bring our shared vision to reality. There is a huge appetite for an online Transformers game and we will utilize every bit of our development and publishing expertise to deliver a dynamic and action-packed game that Transformers fans will find irresistible.
A Transformers MMO should allow Prime to die at least one a week per server. Mustn’t break with tradition.
Update: We asked Jagex if they had any plans for Transformers Online on consoles. Their response:
“Transformers Online will be available on the PC, Mac and Linux.”
