Thinking you might get your hands on PS Vita this year? Well, you might – but only from Japan.
Sony’s Kaz Hirai has confirmed that the follow up to the PSP will only see the light of day this year in its native territory, everywhere else will be “early 2012”.
“Sony Corp. Executive Vice President Kazuo Hirai said Thursday the PlayStation Vita will go on sale by the end of the year in Japan, and early next year in the U.S. and Europe,” states MSN Money.
“Hirai did not characterize the timing as a delay, but said Sony wants to be prepared with solid game software offerings timed with the hardware launches.”
He also states that the company doesn’t see any reason to drop the price despite Nintendo’s struggling 3DS.
“There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price,” he said.
We’ll see…

Well judging by what i said yesterday i’m actually kind of glad about this. It means i can get all the games i want this year and there’ll hopefully be a decent line-up by the time i raise the money as surprisingly xmas, birthday and holiday are the only times of the year i have money.

isn’t the big sales period in japan some time in feb/march? if so wouldn’t it of made more sense to get it out in the EU or US to catch all the Christmas sales and then release it in japan when there big sales period is.

Not bothered, I’ll be waiting for a price drop before picking one up, so I’ll be hanging around ages anyway.

No Sony!
Please speed it up, do whatever you can!
Please get it before or on November! I need my friends to get it, so I’m not the only one, PLEASE!
(Ow, some things are too good to be true, so unfortunate).
