WipEout 2048 certainly seems to be on a mission to prove how versatile the Vita is. Tilt the console to steer, use the rear touch pad to accelerate, talk to the on-board computer to fire voice-activated weapons, and let’s not forget cross platform play with the PS3.
A new trailer has been released to celebrate the wondrous time that is Gamescom. Enjoy!

“PS Vita vs PS3” Is this cross platform or am I being silly?
kivi95
It’s cross plattform :)

So this has to mean HD and Fury tracks on the PSV ooor maybe a 2048 pack on the PS3, right?

OH. MY. GOODNESS.! How good is that? I want a Vita.
bunimomike
Same reaction here. The glass/transparent parts took my breath away. Bloody awesome!
MrJimmy
yep want too, but doesn’t yet look to add much over HD / Fury.

Loving the nods to HD being a few years ahead of 2048, such as a track being named Sol – remember Sol 2 in HD?

How do you get games for this again? Are they all downloads to a memory stick? I presume there is no disc?
So in a shop, you just buy a code that works on the store?
Uhyve
Apparently, you’ll be able to buy some sort of proprietary flash cards at retail:

Though they’re claiming that all games will be downloadable.
Smallville2106
Probably at stupid prices though. This is the only reason I’m unsure whether I am getting a Vita. Dead Space 2 has gone on PSN at £47.99 and that is not even a brand new game. I am dreading the price of new Vita games on the PSN.
Bladesteel
That’s the beauty of it. You can still choose to buy games in the store. I expect all the “big titles” will be available in stores and only “minis” or niche games will end up being download only.

You’re going to look a complete idiot shouting “Quake!” on the train though.
Only concern I have is the fact that it’s mobile, I always felt Wipeout Pure on the old PSP was too graphically impressive to be shrunken down that screen size…

You have to be on a train to play it? :-}

This game pretty much seals my desire to pick a Vita up on day one. I just wish they’d release Wipeout 2097 as a PS1 classic.

From what I’ve seen I think motion control will work better with Vita than the Sixaxis pad on the PS3.
