Uh oh, it seems like Microsoft is up to old tricks again. The Xbox builders have just gotten in touch to let us know that November’s huge Bethesda release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be bringing its DLC content to Xbox Live for a 30 day exclusivity period.
So, that sounds like bad luck for PS3 and PC fans of the fantasy action RPG series, although some might see it as a positive that 360 players will be first to encounter any potential difficulties with the content.

Only Microsoft can do this. Deep pockets and no imagination, but they have to get Xbox 360 exclusives somehow! You can’t blame Beth for making as much $$$ as they can on this. They are a business after all.
Starman
Have Sony not paid for exclusives before?

Did you make same comment, when Sony by up any developed which has made a half decent game for their console, meaning that entire studios output for the rest of their existence is only on Sony’s consoles
At least the MS way, everyone gets to enjoy at some point whether it’s stuff like Bioshock or Mass effect or some CoD DLC it’s a whole world away from Sony’s approach*
*Of course this leads to a whole host of ‘great’ exclusives which anyone owning a Sony console isn’t going to grumble at, in fact most people love just waving in 360 owners faces, forgetting that Sony’s big bucks helped them get there by snapping developers up

The difference between sony’s and microsoft’s tactics is much bigger when it comes to the consumer’s viewpoint, a game developed as an exclusive is almost always better than a multiplatform one and so whilst xbox owners miss out on great games as a result of sony’s investment, ps3 gamers get a better gaming experience.
Timed exclusives, however give no benefit to the xbox owner, and has a negative effect on ps3 owners. The only people who this does help are microsoft and the developers.
Besides don’t developers get a degree of security from being bought by Sony? In this economic climate, surely investment like that should be encouraged
skibadee
that is making games for there console like MS should be doing no Exclusive IPS would mean 2 consoles pointless.
skibadee
+ there is nothing stopping MS from making new IPS if MS owned Mass Effect 2 do you think we would have got to play it no we never got to play ME1 & MS never let us have Bioshock Take 2 did has nothing to do with MS.

Won’t bother me since I won’t be running out to buy Skyrim. Given the Fallout games, I think some debug time after release will be needed. Then I’ll pick it up.

Good point
Bethesda and serious bugs go together like me and beer
Starman
Hopefully the new engine they’re using will be less problematic than Oblivion, Fallout 3 & Fallout Vegas’ engine

well thank you Microsoft. Hope you feel pleased to have stopped me getting to the DLC a month earlier, although if I’m honest if Skyrim doesn’t keep me busy enough for longer than those additional 30 days then it isn’t doing it’s job properly. I expect to be kept busy for 30 weeks before needing any DLC!

Seems pointless to me. But I’ll be waiting for the GOTY edition for the DLC anyways.

Haha Xbox 360 is PATHETIC
Just because that piece of cr*p has noo good games other than two shooters which don’t interest me whatsoever, MS have to pay for multiplatform developers to make exclusive stuff for their console.
My PS3 crashes like once a year in game or on the XMB, my 360 crashes in COD and gets stuck on the ingame Dashboard and then starts to give me the Open Tray message when the disc is clearly inside the console every week.

Sales that still lead the PS3 tells me otherwise. Both consoles have their own merits and your very statement is pathetic. Learn to respect the competition (god knows, Sony does) then engage brain first. Sony wants exclusives. Microsoft too. Whether it’s exclusive content, timed DLC, etc. They’re in competition with each other and this is business. Simple, competitive business.
Seriously, fella. Stop and think before you post this sort of nonsense. It helps NO ONE and makes you look immature.

I disagree.
Xbox 360= 1 “good” exclusive this year so MS have to buy 30 day exclusive DLC to make their console look better.
Sony could buy it as well but the PS3 has more than 1 good exclusive this year and then people compare why PS3 exclusives sell less, well its because the PS3 has more choice unlike the 360 which has Halo one year and then Gears next year that people really want.
PS3>360
Crazyhorse
just shows ms has no imagination, halo remake who cares, all ms can do is proffer a dlc that will be a buggy mess for at least 30 days anyway.
bf3 all the way for that 30 days
