Epic: ‘Not Working On An Unreal IP’

Epic president Mike Capps has been speaking to Forbes and teased a few future projects – and one IP they are not working on.

When asked about the Unreal IP Mike said ‘we’re not currently working on an Unreal IP’ but was more positive about Bulletstorm developers, People Can Fly.

We learned that People Can Fly can make a really fun project, and we learned how to work together well – and that’s going to show in what they’re doing next.

Mike also told Forbes that ‘much of the Epic team’ are still working on DLC for Gears Of War 3.

  1. Surely a texture pack doesn’t require most of the epic team? ;)

I wonder if it is a sequel to Bulletstorm?

    • That would be ‘Epic’!

See what i did there? ;)

  2. Can’t wait to see the price of the DLC for GeOW 3. Hopefully it’s not relative to the gun skins or it will be up in the £90 region or somewhere.. :P

    • Yeah the pricing was horrible.

  3. I’d love a new Unreal Tournament…
Even a HD release one of the older ones would be great.

  4. Would be nice to see them release a new IP, but a new Unreal Tournament would also be really cool.

  5. I’ll buy anything from People Can Fly. Love their style. They know what they’re doing and it’s right up my alley.

  6. Unreal Tournament is the reason I’m a serious gamer so I’ll be horrified if Epic don’t create a new one :(
    I has a sad…

  7. I really like the way the CEO speaks, the amount of PR BS that comes from other publishers and developer CEOs is mind numbing. It’s also nice that Epic are supporting the developer, considering the industry body-count this year.

  8. Unfortunately, UT doesn’t make as much money any more. The original/2k4 might define FPS gaming for a lot of people, but the sad truth is that either Epic can’t make ’em like they used to, or there’s simply not enough incentive to do so.

I still regularly fire up ’99 and ’04. There are a lot of games that claim to have timeless gameplay that will forever outweigh the rose-tinted glasses effect induced by relentless visual improvements, but UT99 is one of very few gams of the early 3D era for which this is true.
