The U.S. PS Blog has started a new feature that lists the top twenty downloads each month and there are a couple of surprises (excuse the pun…) in store.
No less than four different versions of Resident Evil make the chart with the HD remake of the classic Resident Evil 4 just missing out on the top spot at number two.
From Dust makes a strong debut at number three but what’s that at number four? Yes, Angry birds is still selling by the bucketload, despite being released ten months ago.
Final Fantasy VII was released in June (Edit: That’s June, 2009) and is still lingering at number ten, three places above new release Burnout Crash! Despite being a 7GB download Saints Row 2 lands at number seventeen one spot above the excellent Renegade Ops.
Completing the chart is another oldie, Battlefield 1943, perhaps its sales have been given a boost thanks to the Battlefield 3 beta.
- Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection
- Resident Evil 4
- From Dust
- Angry Birds
- Resident Evil 2
- Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
- Castlevania: Harmony of Despair
- Street Fighter III
- Limbo
- Final Fantasy VII
- Resident Evil Director’s Cut
- Parasite Eve II
- Burnout Crash!
- Elemental Monster Online Card Game
- Breath of Fire IV
- Saints Row 2
- Renegade Ops
- Call of Duty Classic

I know Final Fantasy VII has been on PSN for longer than since June since I bought it over a year ago.

You’re right, I think Europe got it late but these are US charts. I’ll fix.
Edit: I researched a bit – Europe only got it two days late but it was June 2009! :D

Yup, over two years after its digital release and 14 years after its original release and it’s still in the top 10. Amazing stuff. Amazing game.

We beg for a remake yet they continue to ignore us….
scavenga
Could that be because this version is still selling like hot cakes?
The Lone Steven
I think Square said that it would take them too long to remake FF7 in HD due to the graphically style of FF7.

Good to see limbo doing so well. I thought that was a good game, especially the Ding! trophy, that was AWESOME..
enroene
enjoyed the demo on the PC so its good to see it there.
Reality Check
All that is lacking for me on PSN is some old-skool retro Arcade games(original versions) & maybe more PS1 games & PS2 games(can’t believe it has taken this long in PS3’s life to start seeing some PS2 games on PSN, oh well its a start) LoL

Well the reason we will be starting to see ps2 games now is probably becaue sony will soon kill ps2 for good.

Good work FFVII. This is a cool feature, I wish the European PS Blog would do something like this.

BF 1943 is one of the best games on PSN, easily. Limbo and From Dust are also brilliant games too.
DrNate86
I was massively disappointed with Limbo, after the stunning first half I thought the rest was very bland. I’m not sure I would recommend it for the price it is.
Origami Killer
Call of Duty Classic in the top 20 is a surprise too considering that has been out for almost 2 years now. Tried the Trial for BF1943 and I must say it was great.

Not sure what I expected to see here but it still seems a slightly bizarre chart, not sure why.
Angry Birds could’ve been far better had it’ve been a PSN game with trophies, level creation and online leaderboards and some kind of multiplayer.
Peco
Jealous. We need Resident Evil 2 and 3.

I’m surprised that MKA Kollection is at number one judging from the negative things that i’ve heard about it. It says alot about FF7 seeing as it’s still in the top 10 after 2 years of being rereleased.
It seems to be the most popular PS1 Final Fantasy.
I wish we had Resi 2&3. I’ve lost count of how many times SCEE has said “it’s will be up soon”. :( I wish we also had Castlvania:Symp of the night as i’ve heard it is an excellent game.

I personally LOVED Battlefield 1943! xDD
