At the risk of posting about nothing other than people wanting people to work for them, Creative Assembly, the guys working on a new Alien game, have posted up a job advertisement that clearly references next-generation hardware.
“We are seeking an experienced programmer with proven skills in the area of gameplay and multi-player games,” it says. “The successful applicant will be working on a AAA multi-platform title on current and future generation consoles set in the Alien universe.”
It’s apparent that the Alien game will also be on current generation machines, given that the job spec also requests “experience of game development on 360/PS3/PC platforms.”

Easily one of my fave films of all time too.
The blu ray anthology boxset is stunning! :)

Wow, 1979! I can’t believe how old this film is and yet it’s still an iconic brand (somewhat tainted through recent films).

I’m hopefull that Ridley Scott will restore the balance a bit with Prometheus.
togusa
I’m pretty sure he will. When I saw the Prometheus trailer in my cinema on a big screen I got epic goose-bumps… :)
Amphlett
Yup, Prometheus looks very good from the trailer I’ve seen. I just hope that, as you say, he can restore the balance to the franchise. I’m sure he will.

imo i think it would be a big mistake for microsoft and sony to release new hardware next year. Not just for gamers but mainly for devepers and the fact that only the big publishers can servive in this current climet such as ea activision epic. And we are now only seeing this hardware being pushed to the max with games like uc3 and gears3. Also lets not forget the indie games like jouney and trials evolution. I’m happy with what i’ve got and like meny others, in no rush.

They could do with bringing somthing new to the table, though Dead Space has pretty much cornered the market in space based survival horror.
Alien/Predator based FPS games are getting a little long in the tooth though I still hold hope for Colonial Marines.

Anything Creative Assembly does I have a lot of hope for, my favourite devs, never let me down (except with Stormrise. Ye gods, that was bad…). That was by a completely different branch of CA that made it though.

I wonder if anyone would ever tackle Alien(s) properly and manage to create a true game of the film (with judicious editing of the script where necessary). You know… something tightly controlled like an Uncharted. It strikes me as a fantastic world to scare the shit out of me in! :-)

I was thinking something more along the lines of Deadspace given that it’s pretty obvious those games were massively influenced by the Alien films.

It’s probably just the Wii U they’re talking about.

remake the c64 game.
there were two versions if i recall, one was a squad based fps style game, and the other was an action game with various different types of gameplay.
i loved the powerloader bit at the end.
“Get away from her you bitch!” ^_^
incidentally, anybody ever visit this when it was running?
