The next novel in the, apparently brilliant, series expanding the Halo universe has been announced. It will be called Halo: The Thursday War, which sounds much more exciting that Craig David‘s week.
It’s being written by Karen Traviss and picks up right from the end of her previous book in the Kilo-Five series, Halo: Glasslands. It will tell the story of life after the Human-Covenant war with humans and elites still skirmishing and bickering amongst themselves.
343 Industries Frank O’Connor said that The Thursday War will set up “the events and circumstances that will come to define the state of the Halo universe in Halo 4.” It’s out on October 2nd in hardback and audio book, although there’s no mention of a digital release.
Here’s the cover, it’s really cheesy and dated but don’t let that put you off.

Ugh, yeah. Cover is pretty ganky.
Tried reading one or two game novels back in my heavy reading days, but never found them to be very good. They were always either too removed from the fiction for me or they were chock full of references but badly written.
Halo ones are typically pretty good.
Given the end of Halo: Glasslands (the book before this) I can’t wait for this. Such a cliffhanger to end on, really evil that I have to wait so long.
Shame the cover is so bad, Glasslands had a really nice cover.
Edit: Also for anyone who’s interested a Thursday War is basically a set of Naval warfare drills. The term is mentioned in Glasslands, when they say they might get one of the characters on a Thursday War for the UNSC Infinity, a new top secret ship that houses SPARTAN IVs and other experimental tech.
From my previous research, covers outside the US seem to be normal but the original US covers have all been like a really bad pulp action novel from 1982.
I can’t wait for this. That cliffhanger really got me excited.
I wonder who that character on the front is supposed to be. Naomi? Spartan-IV? Looks like the Mark V [B] armour.
