Riot Games has confirmed that League of Legends European accounts have been hacked.
The company has called in an independent security firm who have confirmed that account information had been accessed, including e-mail addresses, account passwords, birth dates and summoner names. A small percentage of accounts also had first and last names accessed. However, no payment or billing details had been accessed.
Since the breach, Riot Games has patched the security hole that allowed hackers to get in, opened an investigation to find who was responsible for the breach and is in the process of improving account security, including better password hashing and more secure firewalls.
Riot Games has also urged players to change account passwords as soon as possible, finding that some 10,000 accounts all had one of 11 passwords. Marc Merrill & Brandon Beck have both apologised for the breach.

Same here, fella. Actually, it’s prompted me to use LastPass. A free password manager. Seems great so far.
