YouTube is now available for PS Vita, at least in the US.
The app, which is free to download, includes a ‘recommended’ page, the ability to search, a history and the ability to create a favourites list. There’s no subscribe button though.
Vita owners can watch HD content (at up to 720p) and it works over 3G in addition to Wi-fi.
The European version is hopefully due tomorrow, at which point we’ll be able to have a proper look at the application and see how it performs against other mobile YouTube viewers.
Regardless, this is great for the Vita.

Cool, should be a great addition.

Fiiiiinally.
Also, is it a telling sign of what my Vita is being used for that, Facebook, Skype, LiveTweet, Foursquare and the media apps are on my first page, whilst all my games are on pages 2 and 3…
jonny_bolton
p.s, YouTube’s going on the front page…though what to lose?

Does it matter> Really?

I had my settings, store and stuff on the front page.
I think they just survived like that from launch day- until I read this comment.
Now they’re way down at the bottom, games are on the first 4 pages, followed by apps I access in game (trophies, near, friends, music, etc), a social networks page, a media page (photos, videos, maps, remote play and the like) and then the settings page.
All with screenshots from a different game as the background!

Good stuff. Keep it going please- iPlayer, Sky Go, LoveFilm would be nice

But not for Scandinavia and some other countries, for some bizarre reason. Hope they get it fixed ASAP.

It’s really winding up my gears, so very annoying.

I love the excuse they are giving now:
“Note: SONY Computer Entertainment Europe Limited are only allowed to distribute the PS Vita YouTube app in Google’s official YouTube serviced countries. ”
But EVERY other company has no problems making apps for those countries…
GhostViper
It’s like we don’t have youtube over here.
Lymmusic
I have never really got into youtube except for the occasional video review of something or other or catching up on e3 trailers omcetera omcetera… Could do with netflix on there but can get it on ps3, iphone and ipad so no massive hurry..

Yep, great addition to the Vita apps. Sounds like it works a treat having read some comments on the US blog.
Still, would love to see browser updates – performance and HTML5 video (or flash) support please Sony! I use the browser quite a bit even though it’s pretty awful.

But still no PS3 youtube app?

Finally, I might threaten to use my 5gb of 3G data I get every month…
colmshan1990
I’d quite like the 100mb download cap to be lifted (at least give us the option!)- I could queue up a download or two for when the Vita is charging at night.

Finally! It really feels like Vita is coming together now – despite Sony’s E3 debacle.
TSBonyman
Excellent, i wonder if it’ll be integrated with the browser like the youtube app on iOs.

Next year?
