Ah, LinkedIn again. And once again it’s someone at SCEA leaving clues in their profiles as to the future of the PlayStation brand. Or rather, someone who used to work for SCEA.
Picked up by VideoGamer, the profile of one director of research at the company claims that they were working on the graphics library and security on “Next Generation” platforms way back in August 2010.
An employee working on new technology isn’t earth shattering, but it does date the PS4 – assuming that’s what this is all about – to at least two years back.
“I worked on graphics and a lot of network related technologies,” says the profile, “for the Playstation2-x, PSP, Vita and Next Generation platforms.”
“Platform security was occupying most of my time at the last years…”

Anyone that actually thought/thinks the PS4 will be a streaming only device needs their head examined.
Indeed. I have a therapy session* every evening where I repeatedly bash such disillusioned souls against the brick wall outside whilst simultaneously repeating “I will not spout such nonsense on the internet ever again”.
*discount for group bookings.
Indeed, the hysterical reporting from TSA and constant jumping to conclusions seems like pretty poor game journalism to me.
I disagree. Don’t think they said it would be streaming only, just that you may be able to stream to PS3/Vita but hardware may also be released for those who want it.
All anyone can say this early is speculation in any case. I thought it was an interesting possibility…with my PS3 and Vita, I can’t see myself feeling the need to splash out on a PS4 anytime soon.
They may not have said it will absolutely, definitely be streaming only but there has been a consistent push, from linking back to previous articles to numerous speculative pieces outlining their reasoning, that this is what TSA believes.
If that’s not the actual case, well, that’s the way it reads, guys.
I’m all for speculative postulation and, in my opinion at least, the recent trend on TSA supports the position that the site thinks the PS4 is streaming only.
That said, Shuhei Yoshida himself RTed a link yesterday from a site that said “You may already own a PS4,” so who knows?
Nah.
Right, I’m calling it. 2013 reveal followed by a launch in early/mid 2014, maybe late 2013 if they’re quick off the mark.
I reckon either the neXtBox or the PS4 will be announced early next year, latest at E3 and will be launched before December so the can beat the other console, and be the first too launch out of the 2, my money is on the PS4 being out first as they don’t want to have the same problem as this gen.
Wonder if they’ll name it the Mortem.
Vita… Mortem get it?
I don’t, sadly. Can you explain the joke please?
Nope not getting it either?
If the Vita was called Post then maybe it would be funny but.. the saying goes if you have to explain the joke..
Get with the modern age and learn Latin, uneducated fools!
Vita = Life
Mortem = Death
Although I can’t resist pointing out that death should actually be Mors (nominative, not accusative.)
OOH! Get you! ;)
Modern, err that would be modern day English, not Latin lol.
PS4 in development. ZOMG!
“Playstation2-x, PSP, Vita and Next Generation platforms”
What does 2-x mean and wasn’t the PS3 in 2010 still called “next-gen”
The PSX, the Japenese only PS2 with DVR abilities.
TSA make up your mind. Is the PS4 a steaming device or a console??
If you read article correctly, you’ll find it was described as speculation.
(Is it a full moon or something, some crazy comments surfacing on this.)
Nothing i’ve read says any thing about speculation. You muppet.
The PS4 is going to be a console. It’s just Sony will Lilly bring game streaming for older titles they can get the licences for.

So this guy was working on PS4 security a year before the PSN got hacked?
No wonder he no longer works there :)
hmm, an inside job., or a coincidence this guy is anonymous.
