Microsoft To Open New Development Studio In London

Along with Konami’s new PES studio, London will see a brand new development studio from Microsoft, according to reports in MCV this week.

Microsoft are currently hiring for “senior staff” to manage it, which will benefit from the already existing Microsoft bases like Rare and Lionhead.

“EMEA is a key market for us and we continue to cultivate the best talent and focus on growing our business,” said Microsoft to the trade magazine, “with this role focused on the continued expansion of our Microsoft Studios business in the region.”

The studio is expected to work on new free-to-play and casual, family friendly games for Xbox.

  1. what’s EMEA anyway?

anyway, good to see them creating a studio rather than shutting one down.

i guess it’s going to be a small studio, at least at the start, if it’s going to be making casual game.

whatever happens, i wish this new uk based studio all the best.

  2. Lovely news. Great to see the big guns forming new studios in the UK.
