In the meantime: hey look everyone, here’s a poster for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag!
“According to our tipster, this poster will be on store walls on Monday, March 4,” reports Kotaku.
By pure coincidence my NDA will expire at 5pm on Monday 4th of March, what are the chances of that happening?!
The poster looks legit and shows a be-robed Assassin fighting off rufty tufty pirates, obviously the Naval battles in Assassin’s Creed III will be the focus for the fourth in the series.
The game is rumoured to be out next year so we are expecting Next Gen versions alongside PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flags is a thing, at least until tomorrow afternoon when everyone will be gagged until Monday 4th March and every site has to post about the game together in one big orchestrated PR gush of piratey goodness.

Not really interested in a setting like that. I’m finding 3 to be a bit boring as well.

The naval missions were definitely the best thing about AC3. From Al’s comment, Edward Kenway sounds interesting I really liked Haytham so hopefully they’re similar characters.

I loved the first 4 AC games, but I finally got a copy of Assassin’s Creed 3 after the price came down, and I’m playing it now. I’m about 12 hours in and I’m so disappointed with it. I think it’s by far the worst one yet. Dread to think what they are gonna do with this. :-(

Pirates! Fuck no, that sounds awful!

You’re all mental, Assassin’s Creed III was brilliant. Sure, it was a little drawn out to fill for time but they all have been – that’s the model they work to.
Also, Pirates are brilliant too. So shush.
Seriously, if I could have a modern version of Sid Meier’s Pirates! using the ACIII combat for one-on-ones and a more distant version of the naval stuff for seafaring and battles, I’d be quite happy. It still needs a good turn-based model for the town attacks though… And now I want to play Sid Meier’s Pirates! again…

Still haven’t played III but I’m still planning to. I’ve finally decided to skip the non numbered releases for now. Will I be missing a lot story wise?
Anyways, I’d love a pirate themed ACIV! What could you possibly not like about it? :D

Story wise you won’t be missing much with Ezio, but there are a few key developments with the Desmond story that you might want to read up on.

AC3’s intro dragged on for too long and the game didn’t decide to let you assume direct control untill sequence 6. Even then, it held your hand in some parts. The naval battles were the best part of the game, shame that there wasn’t that many.
Knowing the AC franchise, Blackbeard was in fact, a templar and he is terrorising the seas under their orders thus forcing Conner to slowly take out his allies then confront him in an epic sea battle. Or they’ll surprise us and it’s just pirates.

Naval Battles were fun, but I was hoping for completely new time zone, this seems too close to AC3 unless this all turns out to be some mini adventure and not AC4 more like brotherhood or revelations then i’ll be happier…ish. AC3 was not on par with the previous, I felt disconnected with Connor and the game itself, for some reason AC2 felt so epic and Ezio just felt right..

Ezio was definitely the best Assassin. Conner never felt like he knew what was going on with regard to the larger story while Ezio, although constantly confused, understood that he was part of a story that would span many generations before and after his life.
That Embers films made me cry and I’m not afraid to admit it
