Sony are looking for ways to add trophy support to games which have previously lacked the feature. Without modifying the original game trophies can be achieved and stored by “detected disk access”. This can be used as a potential trophy trigger.
Does this mean we can see trophy support come, in the near future, to PlayStation 1 and 2 classics, as well as those early PlayStation 3 titles?
With trophies starting to play a larger role in selling games, if this new feature were to be implemented we would most probably see a rise in sales of older games. I’d be sure to replay the likes of GTA: Vice City if it supported that satisfying trophy ping.

Sounds very good to me

“detected disk access” like loading a certain level? Yep, sounds good.

However unlikely, if this came to Oblivion, my life would be put on hold. Again.

Ditto. My number one game for a trophy patch.

This could also mean trophies for watching Blu-ray movies.
anubis3982
that’s just silly

Maybe but think if you’ve been playing a game based on a movie & there was a couple of trophies you couldn’t get in game? 1 for watching the bluray & 1 for watching the extra’s on disc perhaps?
Maybe even for watching the trailer within Home for example? :)

Doesn’t Japan have trophies for watching TV?

That just sounds like a money grabbing scam to me!

Intriguing! I would like to go back and play some classics for trophies but unfortunately my backlog is at the stage where completion of it looks bleak enough anyway.

I think they missed the “Pling” part of the flow chart, needs more work!

This would be great news. Let alone MGS4 there haven’t been any Trophy patches in recent years.

Mini’s would benefit more than anything I’d suspect from trophy additions. Apart from a few brilliant exceptions quite a few of the PS2/PS1 classics released have been mediocre bordering on shite that I wouldn’t want to play anyway!

Shame Trophies didn’t start in the PS1 days because i would have BILLIONS(ish) :D by now then!!! ;)

I would like Half Life 2 trophies please.

skibadee

Just started playing through it and it would be more than welcome. Even still, amazing games xD
