The April Fools We Wished Was True: Football Manager 1888

April Fools normally plays host to a couple of cute ideas from the gaming industry (along with hundreds of terrible ones) – this one from SEGA’s actually pretty good: Football Manager 1888.

It’s based, if you will, around the concept of a management sim focused on the very first season of the English Football League, with the option to manage any of the original 12 (count ’em) clubs involved in the 1888 / 89 season.

The rules? No subs, no off-sides, no penalties for tackling. Sounds perfect.

  1. Yes, that would be amazing.

  2. Want.

  3. Just imagine if it started in 1888, but you could play all the way up until now. Rules change as they happen, a few notable events and teams have their rise and fall massaged into the game…

    How cool would that be?

    • That would be awesome, it would be like a merge of football sim and god sims. :p

  4. Looks like there going with the classic 2-3-5 formation…

  5. Awesome. Loving some of the names in there as well. Harry Butler Daft looks like a wing wizard and he also has high stats for gentlemanliness peevishness and nobbling, which are essential.

  6. I’d rather have Journey Rocket Death Match DLC

  7. I’ve been following the teaser on GAF for a while and I did not expect an April Fools joke to come out of it. The idea sounds pretty cool.
Now get back to localizing PSO2, Sega!
