Sky have been confirmed as the partner channel for Xbox One in the UK so that means you probably need to fork out for a subscription for TV on your Xbox One.
Microsoft Studios boss Phil Spencer told Edge – are you ready for this? Really? Sitting down? Whisky in hand? – “We have partnerships with Sky, with Canal+ in France, and we’ll continue to grow our international expansion.”
“We’ll put a worldwide face on the platform because Europe, in particular, is especially important to us this generation,” Phil continued.
NFL. ESPN. Basketball. American Football. All especially important to Europe. Did you even watch your own presentation Phil?
You’d think he would stop there, perhaps realising the European sized facepalm he had just made, but no. Fill up that Whisky glass because the next comment is a doozy.
“We want the world to watch television through this box,” he added.
Phil. Dear Phil. Lovely, lovely Phil.
EVERYONE ALREADY HAS A TELEVISION WHICH WORKS AS ‘A BOX TO WATCH TELEVISION‘ ON.
I think I need a lie down, this is making me ill.

Oh jeez. I thought Xbox One looked ok at the reveal but the more I read and the more I think about it, the worse it looks.

I’m of the opinion that Microsoft’s direction with the Xbox One and the various ridiculous quotes knocking around are there to serve the purpose of bluffing us all, so that when E3 comes around they can say “fooled ya!”
I honestly can’t think of any other sane reasoning behind their direction, I’d say they were being arrogant, however I think they’re just being ignorant and really don’t understand how much of a pig’s ear they’re making of the whole thing.

A BILLION.

Don’t forget that in most Sky areas they don’t have fiber so you will be attempting to download your 30gb XboxOne game on a crappy 2mb sky broadband connection.
It’s almost as if Sony have implanted an agent right at the top of Microsoft in order to destroy them from the inside.

Similarly to what loads have already said……nextbox + live sub + sky sub = Fuck That Microsoft :P
