Sony Increases PlayStation Handheld Limit To Three

Sony has announced that the maintenance taking place today will bring with it an increase to the amount of portable devices that can be linked to an account. The current limit is two but after today that will increase to three, and will affect PSPs and PS Vitas. So, if you want, you can have three Vitas (or PSPs) sharing one account.

“This maintenance will increase the number of devices that can be activated by an account as a portable gaming device. This means that you can now activate up to three portable gaming devices (PSP (PlayStation Portable) and PlayStation Vita) on your SEN account. This new portable gaming device allotment is in addition to the other network improvements being implemented during this downtime.”

During the maintenance online gaming will be available if you are signed in prior to it beginning, but access to the Store and Home will be unavailable.

  1. Now we just need a Vita firmware update to allow multiple accounts on a single Vita…

    • Aye. Like he said.^^

    • Agree, was trying to set this up yesterday for the Vita I bought my lad for xmas, but wanted to use my account for access to the ps+ instant game collection I’ve been saving up the past couple of years. Can’t have him accessing my account nor notifications so going to have to do without.

      • Just what I thought. Definitely needed..!

  2. Shame there’s maintenance when my PS4 arrives. Won’t get to play any Resogun :(

  3. if the Vita TV is going to count as a portable then this makes sense.
somebody could have a PSP, a Vita and a Vita TV.
    that’s the three activations.
it’d be annoying if you had all three and you couldn’t use your PSN games on one of em.

  4. Definitely be handy when we eventually get Vita TV
