PSN Maintenance Scheduled For Monday

I’m just speculating, but the close timing of this could potentially be related to the recent spate of PSN password resets, as PSN maintenance has just been announced for Monday 9th December. Then again, they are just as likely to be unrelated!

As you can see, this unfortunately sits bang in the middle of the EU’s main online gaming window. However, as is often the case, the maintenance could also be targetting just particular modules of the network, meaning that you might be able to log in and out and still play online games during this period.

Fingers crossed, anyway!

  1. On a related note, I’ve read and seen on an IGN video that “Don’t Starve” will be January’s (late Dec) PS4 PSPlus game. Anyone heard if thats confirmed for EU yet and if its the only game we’ll be getting?

It looks kinda interesting, be good to try it :)

    • Still got a week or two to go until the next line up is announced. I haven’t seen anything in my browse around the Internet yet. But it’ll probably being something Indie/Digital yeah.

  2. They could have waited a few hours.

  3. Why they do these at such times is beyond me.

    • Apparently it a convenient time for the Japanese.

  4. Why is there so many of these maintenance down times on psn? Xbox live virtually never goes down for maintenance.

  5. “For the duration of the maintenance you will be unable to login to Account Management and the PS Store. PS Home will also be unavailable.

Online gameplay will be available to users who have recently signed into their SEN account and have their authentication details cached.”

So most people will not notice.

  6. I thought this wouldn’t happen now we pay for PSN?

    • Na of course there’ll still be maintenance to keep on top of stuff and improve and maintain the network,I’m quite happy for them to do maintenance whenever rather than never do any, after all it’s only a few hours at a time and most people never notice.

  7. This maintenance will increase the number of devices that can be activated by an account as a portable gaming device. This means that you can now activate up to three portable gaming devices (PSP (PlayStation Portable) and PlayStation Vita) on your SEN account. This new portable gaming device allotment is in addition to the other network improvements being implemented during this downtime. According to Tempest_Fire on US ps blog

    • Ps forum shouldi say it wouldn’t let new edit above.

    • Thanks for the intel, much appreciated.

  8. Aaah, new generation, same ole maintenance

  9. Any maintenance never usually affects me so I doubt that it’ll be any different this time.

  10. Well I couldn’t log into the network at all yesterday evening which is a first for me as it’s always allowed basic online play but no access to account fiddling stuff and the store during maintenance!
There was a Maintenance warning on screen though instead of the usual error code that gets chucked out so it was definately an intention to limit online play as well as account access this time.
I wonder if anyone did manage to get online yesterday after 4PM gmt.
