Amplitude Release Date Pushed Back To January 2016

Harmonix has announced that Amplitude has been delayed and will not make release this summer. Instead a full PS4 release will now occur in January, with early access backers getting the game in December. The PS3 version will follow shortly after the release of the PS4 version. The reason for the delay is down to an increase in content that will be available in the final game, with the original summer release date too tight to allow for all the extras to be put in.

At launch Amplitude will have:

  • 30 songs instead of the original 16, with Song Senate backers getting an extra track.
  • Two more playable environments.
  • More modes so the game will ship with Solo Campaign, Solo Free Play, 2-4 player Free-For-All, and Team Play mode with 1 vs 3 and 2 vs 2 matches.
  • Three additional nanoblasters have been added.
  • Added online leaderboards so players can compete asynchronously.

There will be no regular online multiplayer however due to budget limits, but should sales be successful Harmonix would consider adding it in post launch.

  1. One of (if not my absolute favourite) my favourite games on PS2. Really stoked about this, and happy to wait until January if that’s what it needs to perfect it.

  2. Happy to wait – this will be played to death. Still crack out the original duo often!
