Dynasty Warriors Dev Bringing “Attack On Titan” To PlayStation

Last week developer Omega Force launched a teaser site for its latest project, counting down the days with a series of cryptic messages. Well today, the studio – best known for creating the popular Warriors franchise – has unveiled its newest collaboration, a console game based on the much beloved anime/manga, Attack On Titan.

Having only shared the teaser video above, there isn’t a whole lot to go on in terms of how the game will play out. According to Omega Force this won’t be like their previous Warriors games and spin-offs which have included popular licenses such as One Piece,  The Legend of Zelda, and Mobile Suit Gundam.

Players will no doubt be strapping themselves into the elaborate rigs worn by Attack On Titan’s heroic Scouting Legion. Fighting to save what’s left of humanity against a horde of man-eating giants, battles will likely be focused on one or few enemy targets at a time instead of dispatching of entire armies as we’re so used to doing in Dynasty Warriors.

Attack On Titan is due to launch in Japan this Winter and will come overseas at some point in 2016. At present, the game has only been announced for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and of course, the PlayStation Vita. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more at this year’s TGS.

  1. Don’t worry. They’ll soon be back to doing more musou games. There’s Samurai Warriors 4-II, One Piece 3 and Dragon Quest Heroes still to come this year alone. And Dragon Quest Heroes already has a sequel announced for next year, before the first game even arrives here. And an Empires version of Samurai Warriors 4 soon in Japan.

So at least 3 to come this year, and 2 (or more likely many more) next year. They seem to be popping them out here about 8 or 9 months after Japan, so that’s October sorted with DQ Heroes.

I think we can let them sneak out a different type of game every now and then. From what I know of Attack on Titan (must get around to it on Netflix), it’s certainly an interesting world to build a game in. I can see why it wouldn’t work in their normal style though.

    • I don’t think their Warriors style would work simply due to the limited amount of enemies players will go up against.

These Titans can take two, three, four, or more scouts to take down (depending on size). Their rigs are also built specifically to enable swift three-dimensional movement, meaning the scouts will be airborne during most fights.

No doubt we’ll see some influence from the Warriors series though I’m hoping for something fresh.

  2. I would hazard a guess that this won’t be suitable for people who haven’t seen the anime or read the manga due to spoilers, however I can’t imagine there will be too many people blind-buying it so this shouldn’t be a problem per-se.

Depending on how it pans out I might pick this up, my love of AoT should outweigh my disinterest in Omega Force style gameplay.

  3. Started watching AoT whilst I was in the US, it’s huge over there. It’s on Netflix here if anybody wants to see what the fuss is about. It’s uhm, odd.

    • Did you watch the sub or the dub? I tend to find anime difficult to watch in dub due to odd accents and performances, whereas I love the AoT sub and original voice cast.

  4. Probably going to be like there Toukiden game which I wasn’t really a huge fan of. Omega Force games are always hit & miss, be interesting to see how Aot how pans out
