The EU PS Store’s January Sale Just Got A Bit Bigger

There’s a bundle of games that have been added to Sony’s January Sales on the EU PlayStation Store today, with The Last Guardian down to £30, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst worth a punt at £9 (just brace yourself for a terrible final level), and Battlefield 4 and Hardline going really, really cheap.

PlayStation VR owners should also have a gander, with roughly a third off the price of Werewolves Within, Robinson: The Journey, SUPERHYPERCUBE and Eagle Flight, amongst others.

This is also the day that a bunch of games are leaving the sale, as their promotional periods end as the clock strikes midnight tonight.

  1. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst for £9? Don’t mind if I do. Although my massive backlog will object.

    Might have to hold off on getting Ratchet and Clank for a while. That’s one of the ones on sale until the 20th, I hope.

    Does the PS blog contain the usual moaning about it not being a very good sale?

    • Not yet but school doesn’t finish for a couple of hours yet :)

  2. Wow. Surely Mirrors Edge is worth a go at that price?… Right? Right?!

    • It is, absolutely. It’s great at creating an open world that’s conducive to free running and finding interesting and challenging routes to take… but the main story is too combat heavy, which can end up being clunky as soon as you’re forced to stop running, and the final mission was just a big old mess.

    • I couldn’t get into the first game but thought Catalyst was great.

      I know it isn’t real and the checkpoints are pretty generous, but climbing the final tower had me on the edge of my seat. Reminded me of the movie ‘The Wire’ / ‘Man on Wire’ about the French guy who walked a tightrope between the twin towers of the World Trade Centre. Would be awful(ly good) in VR.

  5. I was dreading that… My backlog is so bad now, I really have to prioritise what I dedicate my precious time to.
    Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is not one of them, after playing the demo and then rating it as my disappointment of 2017 (I loved the first one…).

  7. I feel like there’s got to be a catch to the mirrors edge price…
    It would be rude not to get it at that price.
    As with everyone else my backlog is a bit high, but there’s not many 2017 games I can think of right now that I want (other than Horizon). So I’m sure I can stockpile a few games when they come cheap.

    What does everyone think of Doom? I got it for Christmas but with Watch Dogs 2 I’ve yet to try it.

    • Doom is so much fun just shoot demons after chapter after chapter. You will complete it without knowing how far you got to. Watchdogs is good fun but it’s a free roam requires alot of driving and side missions. Doom you just simply shoot stuff…. alot lol

      • You don’t just shoot stuff. Sometimes you punch stuff until it explodes. Or slice stuff in half with the chainsaw.

        And then you get the BFG9000. Oh, yes.

        And marvel at how stupidly overpowered it still is.

        The multiplayer bits are also surprisingly good fun too.

    • Sold! Thanks guys. There will be sessions of Doom sandwiched between Watch Dogs.
      The drive to each objective and back, can get a bit monotonous in WD2. But then I don’t want to fast travel everywhere and miss side objectives.

  8. Hotline Miami (for PS4/PS3/PSVita) is free in the sale. No idea why.
