Destiny 2’s September Release And Beta Plans Leak

A leaked poster for Destiny 2, seemingly coming out of GameStop Italy’s backrooms, has revealed an 8th September 2017 release date for the full sequel to Bungie’s hugely popular online shooter. Not only that, but as with the original game, it’s set to be preceded by a beta test, coming first to PlayStation 4 and reportedly set to occur in June.

The poster features imagery of three guardians, presumably of the existing Warlock, Hunter and Titan classes, though none are wearing helmets, and it uses real models instead of in-game imagery to represent them.

The initial leak was posted by Italian site Lega Network, but has since been backed up by Eurogamer and their own well placed sources. To be fair, none of this should come as any surprise, with Destiny having had September release dates for the main game and its two major expansion packs, and it’s always prudent to hold a beta test or two when a game has such extensive online functionality.

Kotaku are also reporting the game will be coming to PC.

  1. I dont know if i should care or not. Destiny was going to be the series i played for 10 years, but gave up on year 1.

The original idea and mechanics were amazing though the rest was not hood. Excl VoG.

    Once bitten, twice shy, sadly.

    • It got an awful, awful lot better as time went by.

      • I was disappointed in the lack of competitive PvP, pointless clan framework, excessive repeat PvE due to limited content, the terrible balance…i played Auto Rifle through the FR and HC metas…avr a 2kdr running solo non sweaty. Lastly it just seemed Bungie did not have the experience to develop an FPSMMO…though great mechanics.

Ill try the beta and hopdfully see more, but graphically and mechanically it was on point. How do i assess story, content and direction via a beta is the concern.

    • I agree with Stefan. One thing to also consider is that being last-gen game held Destiny back considerably as three years rolled by. It did do a good job progressively. There were a few hiccuped after the first year and paid content. If it isn’t bigger and better this time arounf, I’d be surprised. Hopefully the load times are shorter, though.

      • Yeah that and the terrible tools they had for content development. Also combined with the rewriting of the game from 2013 to 14 i think…the game just felt gutted…

It should of had at least 18months longer i guess b4 releasing content wise.
