Rocket League Second Anniversary Update Gets A Trailer

Happy birthday dear Roooocket Leeeeeague

Has it really been two years since Rocket League released? Well not quite, but we’re getting close, and Psyonix are celebrating the game’s second anniversary on 5th July – its actual anniversary is the 7th – with a free Anniversary Update.

The update will feature a free new arena called the Champions Field, which is a standard form, modern-looking stadium that will filter through to Competitive, Casual and Private play. Two new Import Battle-Cars, the Animus GP and Centio V17 will be added as drops in the new Overdrive Crates, and there will be new customisation options such as Engine Audio, Goal Explosions and Trails coming as both free options and crate drops.

Out of interest, do any of you still dip into Rocket League every now and then? I feel like I haven’t played it in ages…

Yes, I still play this now and again with a friend. One of the most fun and entertaining PS Plus games Sony ever gave us. The online servers are still quite busy as well, certainly considering the game’s age.

Nice! Yeah I still play a bit every now and then, usually just the plain old 4v4 football, I’ve only dipped my toe into the hockey and basketball modes but I might give them another bash before the update drops. Probably the best Plus game we’ve had, Sony should give this one away again so that all the new adopters can join the fun.

So, how do we get these new cars? We have to buy the crates, is that how it works these days? I’ve never bought one myself, and it strikes me as odd if this is the only way to buy these new cars…
