Nintendo Still Going Strong With New Amiibo Announced At E3 [Updated]

If you thought that Nintendo were slowing down on the Amiibo front, the coverage of Amiibo during the Treehouse Stream for Nintendo is evidence that this certainly is not the case. All featured Amiibo will be covering games already released and indeed games that are releasing soon.

First during their E3 stream came the Amiibo that will launch potentially together with the 2nd DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in December. There are four of them in total and depict all four of the Champions: Daruk, Mipha, Revali, and Urbosa respectively. It’s unclear what their use is at this time, but they certainly look cool.

Mario Odyssey is also seeing some Amiibo love with depictions of Mario, Peach, and Bowser in wedding dress. Frankly I love all three of these, but Bowser is perhaps the most dapper he’s ever looked. Again their usage is unclear at this time, though I’d imagine all three would be compatible as regular Mario, Peach, and Bowser Amiibo respectively.

Even the game that nobody saw coming and has practically made me embarrassingly mark out in the comments section for that news – Metroid: Samus Returns, will be getting two Amiibo. The first is Samus in the pose she took for Metroid II: Return of Samus. The Metroid however is different in that the Amiibo is squidgy, making it one of the few Amiibo that uses different materials.

[Update: 20:00 BST]: Two new Amiibo for Fire Emblem franchise have been revealed along with the Fire Emblem Warriors demonstration for the Nintendo Treehouse stream. These are Chrom and Tiki from Fire Emblem Awakening. Additional compatibility is unknown as of yet, nor if existing Fire Emblem Amiibo are compatible with Fire Emblem Warriors, though it is very likely.

[Update: 21:00 BST]: They just keep coming don’t they? For the recently announced and showcased Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions on 3DS, there will be Koopa Troopa, Goomba, and Boo Amiibos launching. No further details were given and there are no images of Boo, but it’s nice to see some of the iconic enemies get the Amiibo treatment. There’s also a Pikmin Amiibo though that’s not yet been detailed.

This is all that have been revealed so far. it’s highly likely that more will be revealed for other Nintendo games that are being shown in the Treehouse Stream. Watch this space for more Amiibo stuff coming this E3.
