Whilst PlayStation VR might not be shifting units that make headlines it appears the product is selling steadily, which is exactly what Sony wanted. Rather than have a huge launch and throw every studio at the product as they do with console launches, PSVR has been quietly bumbling away in the background with plenty of indie offerings and the odd morsel of AAA gaming such as Farpoint and Resident Evil 7.
“The focus now is, let’s get some really good games out,” said SIE America Vice President of Marketing Asad Qizilbash. “More games out. There’s over a hundred games out there already. There’s a hundred in development, but we’re also starting to get some of our big brands out. Gran Turismo, that’s going to have a VR component. We’ve got Skyrim in VR as well. So we’re getting some of these big guns coming out there. We’ve also got some of our own new IP. Supermassive are doing some cool VR games as well.”
Asked if he considered any of the games in development as AAA he replied “Absolutely”.
Of course, Sony aren’t the only company with VR and with both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive getting price cuts recently, Sony have followed suit and reduced the price of the PSVR bundles in the U.S. to $399 for the core bundle, effectively giving away the PlayStation Camera for free. The larger bundle, which includes two Move controllers and a copy of VR Worlds, has also been reduced in price to $449.
Finally, here’s a trailer for Monsters of the Deep, the PSVR Final Fantasy XV game. It’s fishing, and nothing like the trailers the had show previously which were massive boss fights.

“PSVR has been quietly bumbling away in the background”
Bumbling: acting in a confused or ineffectual way; incompetent.
Bubbling: be filled with an irrepressible positive feeling.
I’ll let you decide which word :)

I did mean bumbling.. as in “Pottering along in no particularly hurry” but I see your point :)

Nice, sounds good to me.
There are loads of PS VR games, just many seem to be digital only. Perhaps if Sony did a deal to publish physical editions of the best download titles, that will help diminish the perception that there are ‘no games’?
