EU PlayStation Store Have Started Their January Sale… In December

So I know a lot of people really haven’t enjoyed 2017, but come on Sony, you can’t just pretend that we’re actually living in 2018 already. It’s still December, guys, you can’t call your sale a January sale when it’s not January yet. To be fair, the sale has started now and will run until 19th January 2018, but it’s still dumb.

Anyway, it’s a pretty huge, as the EU PS Blog proudly touts over 500 games as having been put on sale. With DLC, there’s 849 things that have been discounted on the store. It’s big.

  2. They actually do that every year, only it seems to be earlier withveach eyar passing. Last year it started on 24th or 25th.

  3. Definitely picking up Stardew for £6.19 and Minecraft Story Mode seasons 1 and 2 for £11.99.

  5. They actually put them all up in one place in the store straight away this time, rather than leaving it for hours after everyone notices the discounts are live.

    So I went through the list adding anything of interest to my wishlist. And added up how much it would cost. £250. Whoops.

    A bit of pruning, and it’s still £130 of stuff. Time to be a bit more brutal with my choices.

    How much space do I realistically need to play Superhot VR?

    Should I just go through the list in alphabetical order until I run out of money or disk space?

    Why is the sale on for almost a month?

  6. Ffs Sony – i only went and bought VR Worlds yesterday! Only paid a couple of quid more though and i guess i can trade it in when i’m done. I think i’ll grab Apollo VR and possibly Farpoint – although i think the latter might favour the Aim controller which i’m unlikely to ever purchase.

    • Farpoint is fine without that controller you can’t buy. It’s also a couple of quid cheaper on Amazon. And ideally should be played without any settings that are supposed to stop VR sickness. And even then, I’d advise sitting. Doesn’t make me feel sick, but does kind of make me fall over. It’s a bit weird.

      • I thought you usually fall over even when sitting… ;o)

      • There was that incident with the chair that broke, sure. And the (possibly related) thing with the London Heist where I forgot that the nice comfy pub seats didn’t actually really exist, which was unfortunate when I leant back on it.

        Things that don’t exist in the real world are my main VR problem. Lost count of how many incidents I’ve had in Bridge Crew due to that. Waiting a while for people to join? Why not put the move controllers down on the handy table in front of you. That doesn’t really exist.

        Because they’ll fall towards the floor, swing around towards you due to the straps and bash you in the bollocks. That’s why you shouldn’t put the move controllers down on non-existent surfaces.

      • My very first go with the PSVR was at a Sony demo, and they got me to play Headmaster. I almost jumped head-on into their stand with the PS4 on, had that poor girl not caught me the last second…

      • My other favourite trick seems to be punching the light, wondering what I just hit, taking the headset off, and discovering it swinging about on the ceiling.

        It happens every single time I swing a sword in the otherwise entertaining Rec Room quests. I’ve taken to using the bow and arrow now to try and prevent smashing a lightbulb.

        Also, if you’re playing standing up, always remove the headset before sitting down. Especially if your chair may easily move to somewhere other than where you thought it was.

        Has anyone actually died of VR yet?

    • Just spotted Solus Project half price so i’ll add that too.
      Loading Human’s discount is also tempting me – has anyone played it?

      • Solus Project? I’m supposed to be trying to narrow down my selection from £250 to something I can afford!

        That might just have gone to somewhere near the top of the list.

  7. Oh no..! About 80% of my wish list has just been discounted, with the Chernobyl VR experience, Outlast 2, Edith Finch, The Observer, and lots more…
    How am I going to resist this..?

    And I still got to make up my mind if I finally hop on board this little girl with a bow game, which is still discounted until tonight…

  8. Also, while it’s not part of the January sale, there is a 15% PS+ discount for Accounting+

    Something all VR people need to play. It probably helps if you like Rick and Morty. And strong language. And laughing at all sorts of weird and deranged characters. And solving light puzzles while being told to fuck off.

    Not a long game at an hour or 2, depending on how long you want to sit and listen to the characters. But a certain amount of replayability, and definitely worth £8.06.

  9. Anybody who have tried the subwater VR experiences and the prehistoric one? If so – are they a waste of money?

    While I’m at it; how about Ping Pong?

  10. Thanks for the heads ups TSA. There’s some good discounts on the Nintendo store at the moment too, Mario Rabbids is about £32 and Unbox is about £12 and has been patched up to a decent looking 720p standard.
