Final Fantasy XIV Exclusive to PS3

Just announced at Sony’s E3 2009 presentation, Square Enix aren’t just developing the thirteenth game in their series, they’re also developing a fourteenth. Last year’s E3 was a massive blow to PlayStation, with Microsoft revealing that Final Fantasy XIII was also coming to the XBox 360 as well as the PlayStation 3. It seems that Sony have hit back with showing the first ever trailer of the following game to the currently unreleased FF XIII, Final Fantasy XIV, which will be available only on the PlayStation 3.

The game is subtitled “Online”, which places a few questions on what the gameplay will actually be like. Feel free to speculate below. It seems that Sony may have pulled their socks up. Is it possible that we may see more Sony exclusives that have fallen to multi-platform recently, come back to the PlayStation 3 in the coming years?

Update: we’ve just got official confirmation that Final Fantasty XIV is an “all new massively-multiplayer role-playing game (MMORPG)” and is planned for a simultaneous global release with language support in Japanese, English, French and German. More information on FINAL FANTASY XIV can be found at
