Activision, always keen to squeeze every last penny out of consumers (see here), have announced that Tony Hawk’s Ride will cost £100 in the UK upon release. While the American price has been revealed in the past as $120, this is the 1st confirmation of a UK price.
To me, £100 does seem a bit on the pricey side considering Guitar Hero World Tour with a guitar has a RRP of £69.99. It could well be worth the asking price, but we will have to wait to see more of the game and what the skateboard controller is capable of before it is clear if this is good value for money or not. Of course, expect retailers to sell the game and peripheral just below the £100 mark.
The game will be available on November 20th, 2009 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii. There will also be an exclusive limited edition, only from the retailer Game. The special version has a red and black skateboard with a unique Tony Hawk logo design. Hardly something to write home about, but at least it is the same price as the normal version.
In an interesting move, the game will only be released in the UK, USA and Germany in 2009, while everywhere else in the world has to wait until sometime in 2010. This is down to Activision having issues with producing vast quantities of the skateboard controller. It is not such a big problem for PS3 owners who live in the countries that are missing out, as they will be able to import the game thanks to the region-free BluRay.
As always, check the TSA for any new information on Tony Hawk’s Ride as the release date draws near.
