Announced on a recent investor call (these things sound awesome), Ubisoft have confirmed that Ezio will be taking the fight to the Templar’s home-base of Rome in the next Creed installment. A continuation from the story of Assassin’s Creed II, we were already enlightened to the fact that this new episode would feature a multiplayer element; now we have a little actual detail.
Described as “innovative”, the online aspect will allow would-be assassins to engage with friends in the dark art of knocking people off. Further information about the mode is a little light, but it does seem that co-operative play will be on the menu as opposed to a world overrun with masked assailants all hell-bent on jabbing each other with pointy blades.
We’re intrigued to see how such a game-play mechanic will enrich the Assassin’s Creed world. What’s more appealing – to us at least – is the prospect of seeing more of Rome in all its grandiose splendour in the upcoming release.
Assassin’s Creed II Episodes, which is a stand-alone side-sequel to Assassin’s Creed II, is scheduled for release sometime between April 2010 and March 2011.
