Sony have confirmed in the Official Playstation Magazine that more “existing franchises” will be receiving motion controller updates. Michael Denny, senior VP of SCEE has said that once “you give our development teams exciting new technology, it’s great to see the experiences they come up with.”
He goes on to say that “that’s in terms of new concepts and new games, but also the application of those technologies to our existing franchises.” Confirming development on older titles by saying “We are both working on new games and looking at applications to our existing franchises.”
It makes sense that developers would want to try out the new technology by implementing it into their current games before building an entirely new one from scratch. What will be even more exciting will be seeing which of those can work alongside 3D as well. That’s immersion. But of the current titles released, which will be implementing the controller remains to be seen.
LittleBigPlanet, Pain, Flower and Resident Evil 5 are already confirmed and as we reported earlier in the week, Killzone 2 is rumoured to implement the controls also. Though surely it can’t just be Killzone 2 that they’re not telling us about. Which titles are you hoping for?
