Bodycount Screens Released

Yesterday we confirmed that Bodycount is the name of the latest title from Codemasters and Black creator Stuart Black, well today the company have released a few more details regarding the game.

Bodycount will basically see you become ensnared in a global power struggle where you, as part of The Agency are responsible for taking out the Targets (imaginative names we know). To take out these Targets you will be equipped with “a mouth-watering selection of contemporary weapons”, which we are told will help you tear through destructible cover to execute explosive kills and leave no witnesses. The game will also include online multiplayer and co-operative game modes, so there we go.

Stuart Black, the Creative Director on Bodycount had this to say about the game

We’re all massive FPS fans, and believe that there’s room for a refresh of the shooter experience. If Race Driver: GRID was all about the purity of racing, then everything in Bodycount is absolutely centred on the bullet and its impact on the world. Our shredding tech enables us to create a different kind of gameplay, where players and AI can’t hide behind indestructible cover and rely on whack-a-mole mechanics. Here the environment is constantly changing as the game world is shot to hell; it’s going to be a huge amount of fun.

Whether we need yet another FPS with a twist is anyone’s guess really, already there are a practically unlimited amount of multiplayer shooters with a twist out there, usually it’s the cream of the crop which rise to the top (hey that rhymes) with the rest falling by the wayside. In the case of Bodycount you get the feeling that the developers better hope the game is as good as they say it will be, otherwise a few months after release there will probably be no-one online to play against.
