Uncharted Could Find Fortune On PSP

With Sony’s current offensive of kick-starting interest in the PSP with known, popular franchises (LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Valkyria Chronicles and even the upcoming ModNation Racers), you may be wondering why the hell Uncharted hasn’t been mooted as the next candidate for miniaturisation. After all, it’s a Sony brand, its platforming action would translate well on the handheld, and let’s face it, it’s awesome.

Speaking to Joystiq, Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells isn’t going to disagree with you:

“I think it would be fantastic to see the game (move) onto a handheld. Each one of the episodes is sort of like a standalone thing and I think we could do that pretty easily. If we can find a partner to work with, I’d love to do that … we definitely wouldn’t do it ourselves. We’re trying to just focus on the PS3 technology and platform right now.”

And if they can’t find a collaborator on the project?

“If we can’t find a partner, then maybe we’re going to have to find a budget ourselves.”

The PSP has been making strides of late, finally transforming into the handheld device we’ve all been longing for. Note: I didn’t say the PSPgo has been making strides of late. That’s a whole different argument.
