EA’s The Ripper A Downloadable Title

Speaking of harbingering sages, apart from stating the blindingly obvious regarding Valve and its (lack of) PS3 support, Michael Pachter has also revealed that Visceral Studios’ third game, the previously trademarked The Ripper, is being primed as an XBL/PSN title.

After visiting the hallowed halls of EA, the analyst revealed:

“[…] the company is currently developing Dante’s Inferno, Dead Space 2 and Ripper (a new PSN, Xbox Live game).”

We’re assuming he meant Dante’s Inferno 2 as we just can’t see them developing a game they’re already made. Apart from the obvious “Here goes Visceral with the whole taking something well known and putting their own spin on it again,” aspect, it does suggest that big players in the industry are starting to appreciate the digital distribution model a bit more.

The game will depict Jack as a hero, inflicting his exceptional surgical skills on the demons of London rather than the working girl population he terrorised in real life. Hey, if Dante Alighieri can have a giant St. George’s cross stitched into his very flesh, anything is possible.
