Infinity Ward Exodus Continues

Will the last person to leave please turn off the lights and cancel the milk! It’s being reported today that the good ship Infinity Ward continues to haemorrhage staff at an alarming rate. In a story that is getting quite difficult to keep up with, two more staff members have jumped ship to become free agents.

Programmer Jon Shiring announced his departure on Twitter, saying “After almost 6 years at Infinity Ward, I resigned today. I’m incredibly proud of everything we accomplished and I’m going to miss everyone.” One has to ask as to whether the timing of his departure is anything to do with yesterday’s Respawn Entertainment announcement. Surely it’s too much of a coincidence, isn’t it?

It doesn’t stop there, however, as Modern Warfare 2 lead designer Mackey McCandlish waved his goodbyes apparently on Facebook as this continued saga unravels like a bad soap opera in the public gaze. These departures of course follow the very public spat between publisher Activision and ex-Infinity Ward studio heads Zampella and West, along with the earlier departures of lead designer Todd Alderman and lead engineer Francesco Gigliotti

All that’s left to ask is, who’s next?
