The irony of a game about spies going dark and never been heard from again isn’t lost on us. SOE’s The Agency, an MMO for the PS3 and PC where players get to join one of two factions and engage in espionage against one another, has been something of an enigma since it was announced all those moons ago. Rumours of it being vaporware – and then cancelled outright – have plagued the title pretty much since its inception, with many people wondering just what was going on over at the San Diego based developer.

Well, here’s the E3 2010 PvP trailer to prove the game is still very much happening.

Looks good. Fast-paced action with some vibrant visuals and the expected gamut of gadgets and weaponry on show. If they can get the tone and appeal of being a covert agent down, this could be one disgruntled spy that ends up defecting and delivering the goods.

  4. the graphics on that were awful! Even in HD..

    • My thoughts exactly. I think ill give this a miss.

      • I’ve seen much worse looking games in my time, and it’s a MMO.

      • But even for an MMO, the graphics are still pretty poor.

      • Are you looking at a different video to me? Those graphics aren’t bad at all. Thats good for MMO standards.

    • It’s an MMO. You have to take a hit in the graphics department if want to build a persistent world.

      • In that case, then why not play a free MMO?

  5. I couldn’t see anything except bullets through most of that. I guess they’ve taken the pew pew route of being a spy rather than the cool way anyway.

    • No no, that’s just the PvP combat stuff. The missions against NPCs etc. etc. can all be done via stealth. Anyway, it’s just a trailer, it can’t really show off much gameplay.

  6. It does look colourful. I’ve never played an MMO so i’m not sure if this is for me. Is the entire game PvP or will there be scripted enemies/NPCs also? And if there are NPCs, do they just behave like bots or are they proper story related characters?

    • There are NPCs. You have to engage them in missions to get them to help you overcome obstacles, etc.

  7. I actually think it looks pretty good for an MMO; it’s really colourful and the lightning/particle effects look pretty good. Anyways, since when are amazing graphics the most important thing, especially when it comes to MMOs.

    • I may be walking onto a straight punch here but I’ll take the question as genuine – player versus player.
