GT5 Gets ‘My Lounge’ Feature

There has been a deluge of information released about Gran Turismo 5 lately.  Be it head tracking, kart racing or track editors – the game is nothing less than filled to bursting.  The latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine has also revealed an interesting feature called ‘My Lounge’.

My Lounge is essentially a place where players meet up, with the option to create voice chat parties of up to thirty two people.  Those who actually want to get in and race rather than chat can then set up sixteen player races.  Anyone feeling a bit rusty can watch races in progress to compare racing lines, cornering techniques and the like

Also featured are bulletin boards that keep you up to date with any community and online news, gives you the ability to send and receive messages, and check other players’ progress sheets to see how far they’ve got in.

You will also get the chance to watch race replays, and check out GT-TV which we hope will be full of  Top Gear goodness!

  1. Cool Beans, liking the additional extras. It all kinda explains why its taken so long to offer a firm release date.

Good things and all that, looking forward to playing or maybe worshipping GT5 :-)

    • it does seem to have everything you could want from a racing game!

      • How about proper damage modelling/mechanical damage and decent AI opponents? I really hope so, could be the only racing game I’ll ever need..

    • CooooOOOOOLL be-be-be-be-beans

  2. More nice features! just sounds very server intense, i hope it doesn’t lag.

  3. So, theoreticly say if TSA organises a GT tournament we’ll all be able to follow it ‘live’ with the spectator mode even if we’re not taking part? cool.

  4. This ‘lounge’ better come complete with some Richard Cheese on the soundtrack (YouTube him)

  5. that sounds pretty cool. I probably wont bother with GT5 though to be honest. I might nearer the time if the hype grabs me, I’m just bored of the same old stuff they churn out every game.

    • I’m a bit exhausted of waiting but don’t quite understand how it’s possible to complain about the Real Driving Simulator churning out the ‘same old stuff’. Apart from allowing you to drive fantastic cars on fantastic tracks – which it looks like it’ll do in spades – what else would you have it do? Have bonnet-mounted missiles for when you get bored? A couple of blue shells on the track if you fall too far behind?

      This country.

      • I’m with Bilbo on this one. As good a franchise as it is, it’s been churning out almost identical game-play for many, many years. When it feels like I’m racing real people (AI is a bit wanky, let’s be honest) then I may well return.

      • I don’t really think you can make that argument with this game.
This one has the usual racing you’ve always had, plus, stunt stuff, track creation, this lounge thing, the ghost racing, online, damage, kart racing, NASCAR.. the list goes on forever.
I honstly don’t know how they’ve managed to get so much into one game. I don’t care about racing sims in the slightest, but it’s even grabbed my attention.

      • Hasn’t this one been in development since the late 17th century? I’m sure we can expect at least something a little different.

  6. GT5 … it only does everything!

    • and then some.

      • I’ll be happy if it does actually release on the day they said it would.

    • I pity the fool who has 2 review this it will take weeks.

  7. Gran Turismo 5 receives a 10 of 10 in every category! Game of the year! -cant be done better!

this is the future articles LOL

btw TELL ME IT’D BE AWESOME TO HAVE CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS FROM THE XMB!

    • Even GT PSP has custom soundtrack so I think it’s a given on GT5.

      • Time to break out “Jesus Built My Hotrod” again ;) Somehow it’s impossible to drive slow with that playing in the background.

  8. This sounds good, I really thought GT5 Prologue was seriously lacking in the online because of it.

  9. As far as racing games go this looks good.

  10. Sounds like a good addition to the game.
