Explodemon Exploding Onto PSN This Year

In a press release today, Explodemon developer Curve Studios have announced that the PSN title will be released in Q4 this year (so between October and December).

“We’re really excited to finally be able to reveal Explodemon! to the world,” says the game’s design director Jonathan Biddle in the release. “The game is chock full of gameplay nuggets carefully mined from the greatest titles ever to grace our joysticks. Whether you’re experiencing its intense combat, head-scratching puzzles, or classic platforming, you’ll find we’ve combined all of these elements into an addictive and elegantly balanced package.”

Explodemon tells the story of “malfunctioning Guardian” Explodemon. Players will use his self-destructive nature to “combat enemies and fly through the air”, at the same time facing physics-based puzzles. Explodemon must repel the evil Vortex invaders and save his planet, all the while “causing incalculable collateral damage”.

The 2.5D platformer will be out before the end of the year.

  1. Looks quite decent…may have to give it a try :)

  2. Somewhat similar to ‘Splosion Man? I loved that game! ;)

  3. Does look good, and I can’t wait for this

  4. Why does it have that Capcom 3 in 1 (arcade game) feeling..

  5. Doesn’t look all that appealing to me.

Maybe a video will change my mind. I think the bar has been set pretty high for downloadable titles and developers need to realize that. Game like Shadow Complex, Braid, Limbo, Trine, Hydro Thunder, Laura Croft (hopefully), DeathSpank, BF: 1943n and a few other have shown that downloadable games can compete with reatail games (to an extent) and warrent the $15-$20 price tages that have become the new standard.

    • After looking into the game a little more, i’m slightly interested, well, more curious than interested. I don’t really like the look of it, but if it plays like ‘splosionman (including the co-op), then i’m on board.

  6. Oh, I thought this was that XBLA game from last year. Uninterested now.

    • ‘Splosionman, now that’s a good game!

  7. test

  8. apart from being on the ps3 this does seem rather like splosion man.
still splosion man seems to have been well received so that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

    • The two (maybe more) player co-op was amazing fun. I spent a decent smount of time on the demo alone with a buddy.

  9. Hmmm, I’m not really blown away by the graphics.
[did you get my little pun?]
