Just in case the bonuses already included in the Medal of Honor reboot’s special edition (including that Frontline revamp exclusive to the PS3) weren’t enough to tempt you into purchasing, EA have today announced a further addition to the package: buying the limited edition of the game for any platform will grant you early access to the beta for Battlefield 3.
Hang on – what? There’s a Battlefield 3? Apparently so! Last time we heard about the game was about a year ago when EA’s John Pleasants casually mentioned it when speaking at a conference, so I guess we can count this as an official announcement.
It marks the first entry in the main series since 2005; since then the team has spun off the Bad Company series, as well as releasing the downloadable multiplayer-only title 1943 and the PC online game Heroes. PC gamers have been clamouring for a full sequel since Battlefield 2 was released, and whilst the announcement doesn’t go into specifics, the bonus’ availability on the PS3 and 360 versions of the game would seem to hint that the latest entry in the series will also be coming to consoles.
As detailed on the EA beta page, the “Beta offer is contingent on Beta availability within 12 months of Medal of Honor release”, so with well over a year to go until a beta is scheduled to appear, I wouldn’t get your hopes up for a full announcement any time soon.

So is this “Battlefield: 3” or “Battlefield: Bad Company 3”?
I’ve been playing BFBC2 all day, and have 1 trophy left until platinum! (Rank 22).

Sorry, I know it’s just 3 – no idea why I asked. What I was meant to ask is, what’s the difference? (I’ve not played any of the main series).

Wow, they’re really stretching the hell out of this numbering system…
We’ve still not had a Battlefield 1 yet.
In all honesty, I think this is a stretch too far.
BF1943 was a remake of 1942, fine,
2142 was a future war (to be revived with BF2143 I heard)
Vietnam is being revived as a DLC pack for Bad Company 2 (Though, I think it should be a standalone like 1943 was, really)
And Bad Company 1&2 is modern day with a storyline, building on the work of BF2 in the first place.
So where does Battlefield 3 fit into all of this? Every period of time is being covered by a subset of the series.
If all that anyone wants is fighter jets, then surely they can wait and be added to BFBC3?

The Battle of Thermopylae. It just makes sense :)

Featuring the special pre-order bonus of unlocking the ability to kick other players down convenient holes.

Battlefield 3 for consoles as well? That’s disappointing. No massive scale battles… :(
Unless they do a Dragon Age and have 2 different versions.

bc2 pc version can have 36 players, whereas the console version is limited to 24 :)
H3O
That’s not the same. A true successor to BF2 would have maps way bigger than a consoles RAM can handle.
theDAZBOMEGATRON
The maps in BFBC2 are massive, they just seem small because the fighting is concentrated in small areas.

theDAZBOMEGATRON: The maps in BC2 are not massive when compared to BF2 maps.

O-M-F-G! ffs DICE don’t screw this franchise over and for the love of god please keep it close to the likes of ’42 and BF2!

How much stuff is going to come with this game. The LE of MO:H comes with exclusive weapons,MOH Frontline,10$ gift card from amazon,Battlefield 3 beta. I don’t think I have ever gotten so much stuff for 46.99$ in my life from a game.

I have the Tier 1 Edition pre-ordered, so I hope that’s classed the same as the Limited Edition. I’d better do a bit of research!!
