A recent survey of 2,301 people were asked for their thoughts on both the PlayStation Move and Microsoft Kinect. The results were quite dramatic with 64% of PlayStation 3 owners saying they would be buying the new technology, the news less good for Microsoft with only 23% of Xbox owners saying they would be buying Kinect.
77% of the respondents said that the high price point of Kinect would discourage them from buying the motion control system and only a paltry 19% were ‘impressed’ by the Kinect launch titles. The survey was run by UK based coupon site, Groupola.
“I genuinely believe that the main issue with the Kinect is that it’s been too highly priced,” said Groupola managing director Mark Pearson, “The cost may be its downfall, and unless the system launches to huge consumer acclaim, I think they’ll be dropping that price dramatically when the Move launches in order to compete.”
Let’s ignore the fact that a director of an internet coupon site is commenting on motion control devices is possibly not his area of expertise. The survey may be skewed in some way (I don’t have the raw data to check) but it does seem to point at a low uptake for Kinect.

I’ll be getting both, including multiple sets of Move & navigation controlers. Only problem is, i don’t really see any launch game for either platform that i really want. The Sports game for Move looks interesting, but i have wii sports and wii sports resorts so i can’t justify buying Move just for that. I’m interested in how Heavy Rain will be updated to support Move, so that something, right?
As far as Kinect is concerned, I’ve heard good things about Dance Central, and the wife wants the fittness “games” thathave been announced, but then that means $150 for kinect and $100-$120 for the two games that will only be used for casual gaming when i have friends over.
While i already have a set of move controllers and kinect on pre-order, i might just cancel both until there is software that really compells me.

Child of Eden has been the only motion controlled title that has piqued my interest thus far. If it’s cross-platform (move/kinect) I’ll get it on whichever offers the most accurate controls, it’s a shmup after all. If a traditional pad offers the best control then I’ll use one of those.
I would love to see a decent kendo/kenjutsu sim on move and a decent RTS with kinect support as I think they are genres ideally suited to the seperate systems. Maybe with Move we’ll finally see Monster Hunter Tri on PS3, delivered to my door by flying pig.

I for one, am buying Move, and probably would have also bought Kinect, had they not dumbed it down spec wise and charged a monstrosity of a price… Oh well, pity SOCOM was delayed, I will enjoy RE5 and LBP 2 with Move though
