Operation Flashpoint: Red River Set For 2011

Codemasters has announced Operation Flashpoint: Red River, an all-new chapter in the tactical shooter series set to debut in 2011.  As with previous Operation Flashpoint games, expect an authentic experience as you head out to a deadly new battlefield set in the remote country of Tajikistan along the Vakhsh River.

Set a small step into the future, Red River depicts “a fictional conflict with contemporary geopolitical themes, which will unfold over three distinct acts in both single player and drop-in-drop-out co-operative play for up to four players online.”

  1. Will it be as buggy as last time or not? That’s something I DON’t want to happen again.

  2. Last one rates as the most shockingly bad looking next gen game i’ve seen, looked almost like the original with missing animations and hugely stretched textures, bugs everywhere to your right Al.
Going to take a hell of alot of convincing before i go anywhere near this next one.

    • What were you playing it on? Looked pretty good for me. Especially considering the size of the location and the draw-distance.

      • But it looked AWFUL when you compared the PS3 version to the superior 360 version. (I never thought I’d say that about a console)

      • Ah. I had it on 360 and it looked fine.

      • Sorry guys had a call out yesterday so never checked the replies, yeah i was playing on the ps3.I have a 360 but don’t want to pay for live so opted for the ps3 version.

    • thats what i thought, plenty of better looking PS2 games

  3. i want to be able to jump!

    • I want to be able to enjoy the bloody thing this time…

  4. I hope there’s less time pressure in the missions aswell as choosable outfitting.
Other than that, I thought the game was brilliant, except for the multiplayer part. They should focus on single player and let mp for the rest of those games out there.

and the last one was also four player coop online btw.

    • What? Multiplayer is where this games thrives! Playing missions with your friends was FAR better than single player.

      • It also allows games developers to not focus on a core experience & allows people to create their own fun purely in multi-player modes

If this continues will the core experience become so bad that everything is pretty much online only

      • I’m sure. If I had any friends who had bought this game. Unfortunately I am the only hardcore shootist out there, among friends I mean.
I still think the single player experience is far better. You have a purpose, instead of killing as much as possible. And there’s less stress. Allthough I did need to play some missions a hundred times over before getting tot the end.

But come on, the night raid on the radio station was brilliant!
        MP must die :)

      • The entire game is focused (and has always been) around co-op campaigns though. It’s meant to be played with your friends. If you don’t have friends then just try others that want to play in a team.

It’s not like it had a co-op bolted on. If anything it had SP bolted on.

  5. Please, please, please make your team-mates not retards this time around? In single-player you essentially fight alone :/ Also, personally, I hated the controls…. took too long to select equipment and shizz.

  6. Hated the first game no way in hell I’ll touch the second one

  7. I got the original yesterday, finished it on medium difficulty without Rendezvous Points today, and took it back to the shop. I loved the original and the way this played, but the tiny campaign and time constraints, limiting my ability to find my own solutions, pissed me off immeasurably.

The whole game, as enjoyable as it was, felt like a “first act” not a complete campaign. Why model 200 odd square kilometres of terrain and then let us play with around 25 of ’em?

  8. Hopefully the PS3 version will not suffer like it did last time, and hopefully they iron out all the glitches.
