Zipper has announced that from August 31st – in North America at least – players will be given the option to create and maintain multiple characters in the MAG universe.
What this means is that you’ll have the ability to be flit between characters from Raven, SVER and Valor at the same time without having to worry about leaving one team to try another.
Now for the slightly less good news – it’s going to cost you;
“From August 31 onwards, two additional slots will appear on the character log-in screen with links to the PlayStation Store. For $0.99 per additional slot, you can click the space of your choice and unlock the extra character.
Your new subscription will last for 30 days from the day you purchased it, giving you a full month to try out your extra warrior. And don’t worry if you don’t renew one month, and decide to come back later – even if you don’t use your additional characters from month to month, he is never actually deleted – just asleep until you come back to claim him again in a future subscription.”
We will be hounding Zipper for a European price so stay tuned. What do the MAG players out there think about this new option?

Interesting idea… I suppose it’ll be a good way to get extra revenue from those that play it a lot, who probably won’t see such a small amount as too much to pay on a month-by-month basis.

Something I’ve wanted for a while really. Having put in 60 levels with Raven, I really didn’t want to be getting rid of him..
Shame it’s a silly subscription, and not a permanent slot.
Actually, I’d say it’s almost too late now. Maybe while I’m waiting for Sam and YD to catch me up, I can get a little head start on them with SVER…

I just got MAG and I’m liking it so far.
Thanks to the new beta i’ll be able to try out the additional factions and see if they’re worth it. I think this would be an excellent item for PS+ users. Allowing PS+ user to purchase the slot and not have to pay to renew it would be awesome.
Either way, it’s just a buck or two, so if i like having multiple characters i’ll pay for it.

Wait, what about medals and such. Will the statistics be counted for all character slots. Say I get 500 kills with a Raven character and 500 kills with a SVER character. Will I have 1000 kills total?

currently when you start a new career your previous stats are held over from your previous PMC.
From that I’d assume that all your stats will be cumulative from one slot to another…

In all honesty, as a long time player on MAG, I prefer to hit level 60 and vet over, not prepared to have several characters on the go at once, I can do that via my alternate psn accounts as do some of my mates.
Still, good to see that Zipper are on the ball even if some on the MAG forums are bleating like sheep about this! ;)

After paying for interdiction I would actually prefer too see this in the next patch or just FREE, rather than forking another couple of quid for a SVER and Valor character alongside my Raven one.

I think this should have been free as well really, it is reasonable to want to play as all the characters without losing all your progress. A subscription model is taking the piss a bit, it should at least be a one time purchase but at least it is cheap.
