PSN Store Update: 25/08/10

This Wednesday update malarkey is still catching me off guard, anyway this week’s gaming goodness is detailed below.

Before we get into the details, there is a surprise inclusion for PS Plus subscribers with the exclusive week early release of the R.U.S.E. demo, as has happened in the past the demo will be available to download from the PS Plus section of the store, or for the lazy amongst us will be pushed to your console if you have Auto Downloads enabled.

This week’s goodness contains Shank, Joe Danger trial and unlock, Pixel Junk Racers 2nd Lap, Motorstorm 3D Rift and of course the new MAG Beta client.

  1. One of these days Sony will announce Hogs of War as a PSOne Classic. Come on Sony – I’d love a bit of that multiplayer (online?!?!) action with Herr Kutt and Herr Gel with Rik Mayall on voiceovers. It was one of my fave PS1 games. Let’s have it!

    • Oh I’d love that too, would definitely cough up my cash for that game.

      • Used to play it with my Bro on couch multiplayer. After a few beers playing this was comedy gold. It often went down to the last turn and I or he would misfire a grenade or rocket launcher. Oh the heartbreak / hilarity (depending upon which side you were on). Glad someone else out there appreciated it.

      • easily my favourite game on the ps1 :)

  2. Shank $15/£10 acceptable
Motorstorm 3D Rift $10/£10 unacceptable, especially when you see that the Mafia2 dlc is also $10, but only £6.29.
Any time anyone complains, they just roll out the old ‘we don’t set the price, that’s up to the devs’.
It’s time Sony started to put their foot down on dev’s taking the piss.

    • They can’t even fall back on that argument as Sony *own* Evolution Studios…

    • Too much money to be made for them to do that. It is ridiculous, especially when you consider that there are no other costs involved as stuff doesn’t have to get made or shipped about.
Then there’s also the madness of charging the most for stuff in their biggest market. Thought supply & demand was meant to be that the more that is getting sold the cheaper it gets.

  3. £9.99 for 3D Rift? When it’s $9.99 on the US store? Nice one Sony. Clever.
If it had been £6 or £7 I’d have picked it up, as a kind of cheap cut-down SP version of MS:PR, but not having a 3D TV, I may as well just get the full game from Gamestation off their 2 for £20 shelf.

  4. Toy Story Racer for me! :D

  5. It’s not often there is absolutely nothing for me in the PSN store.

Lucky I have a US account too or I might go crazy. I guess this is the lull after the GamesCom storm.

  6. Absolutely nothing for me this week!

  7. Can someone tell me what the difference is between the rock band downloads and rock band network dowoads? Cheers

  8. No sign of the last Sam & Max episode?

    • Given the entire Sam and Max season is going to be free of PS+ members next month, I think it is going to be released with September’s batch of PS+ stuff. So it should be next week using that logic :)

    • that’s pretty much your subscription money back.

    • Sam & Max has been released in the last update of each month so far, so should be next week.

      • But this is the last update of the month. Next wed is Sep1st

  9. I downloaded the MAG beta of US store last night, it was 36mb download, 33mb update then instructions on how to set up PS move (picture ones like on the wii) and then nearly 1GB of an update

    • Yeah I noticed the Move set up screens…Got really excited then realised Move’s nearly 4 weeks away still

  10. Picked up Shank last night. It’s great, loving every moment. My only complainant is the 2GB file size :(

    • I’d rather the large filesize than shoddy graphics. they already compressed the video enough, it looks like it’s been left in the washing machine.
