Sony are not expecting a massive launch-day rush for its new Move controller. Speaking to Eurogamer, UK managing director Ray Maguire has stated that, rather than huge day-one sales numbers, the company expects more organic growth for the new device through positive word of mouth. He states:
“Exactly as with EyeToy in the PS2 days, it’s a product that needs to be sampled. You need to get your hands on it. You need to understand it. You need to try it. Am I expecting a massive day one? Not particularly. We didn’t with EyeToy, either. It went on to be massively successful.”
We’ve gotten our hands on Move and like what we’ve experienced so far. The new doohickey will launch on September 15th in the UK, with Australia getting the device on September 16th, North America on September 19th, and, finally, Japan on October 21st.

I think Move will catch on over time once the software gets out and people can try it. Im waiting for some ‘proper games’ to be release before getting a Move, i feel lots of people will do the same

Does any one know the exact date of release as every store i have been in say 17th but the posts on here say 15th. I am going to buy it day one but just a bit miffed at the way you have to buy it,there should have been a bundle with everything (Camera Move and Navigation controllers) and also a bundle of just Navigation and Move controllers for people like me who already have the camera.

Official European date is the 17th but it looks like the UK is getting it on the Friday beforehand.

I am interested in getting Move, but I was kind of put off yesterday when I read that the further away from the camera you are, the less responsive it is to small movements ie you have to exaggerate your movements to get the camera to pick up the orb moving.
I sit a good 8-10 feet away from my 42″ tele, and am a bit concerned it won’t work as well as I’d hoped.

Take a few steps closer…it won’t hurt.

I know what you mean, but I am thinking of the non-party-style games where you’re not playing as a group, and not standing. Things like MAG etc.
Of course, for the party games, the table will be moved out of the way to make room for foolishness!

It might still work fine. I know zipper has some sort of special calibration for socom 4 based on the size of your TV.

Well with all the latest games coming out, this 4th quarter is going to be the most competitive yet!

I wonder does he mean it won’t be a big launch because Christmas is just around the corner and everyone will be getting it in there stocking?

I would imagine they expect to shift a lot more once Socom and KZ3 are released early next year.

I have 2 move and 2 subs on order plus 2 games. I’ve also been getting friends to buy it instead of buying a wii too (they already have a ps3 so its also the cheaper option).

I reckon KZ3 will help boost sales massivly, but until then I doubt Move will be a ‘sucess’.

I think LittlebigPlanet 2 will be good using Move.

I’ll be getting it at launch. I’m still waiting to hear if the demos will be on the store as i have the ps3 Eye and would only need to buy a Move controller then. With existing owned games like Flower, Heavy Rain, High Velocity Bowling, Hustle Kings, Planet minigolf and Tiger Woods all set to be patched, Move-specific software sales may also be slow to take off.

Its Christmas pretty soon so i reckon sales will boom around then plus the January sales will add a few extra sales
