Privates Banned From XBLA

The saucy yet ultimately educational sexual health game ‘Privates’ has been officially denied release on XBLA. Dan Marshall of Zombie Cow Studios said,

“The guys at Xbox have been amazing, they’ve been really supportive and helpful throughout, but ultimately have advised that the game wouldn’t pass the Indie Games Peer Review process, purely due to its inherently sexual nature. ”

Anyone wishing to play the game starrin tiny condom-hatted marines and spend a few hours invading someones unmentionables can get the PC version of the game (for free) from privatesgame.com.

It’s interesting that Microsoft seem to find a tongue in cheeky educational title offensive but are quite happy to sell Shank, a game in a similar cartoon style but with beheadings, attempted rape and gore.

    – Good point well made!

    • Have to agree there, especially when you consider that at its core, Privates is supposed to be educational and raising awareness, whilst Shank is just violence.

  2. The banhammer once again comes down heavy with little sensible thought or consideration. Well done MS again.

  3. Kinda glad… its stupid

    • But that’s just your opinion which is very selfish to be fair. What about the people who might like this game?

      • Leisure Suit Larry was stupid, this game looks like it could be pretty fun.
You can’t beat a good knob gag.

        hehehehheh.. beat….. knob… hehhhehhheh.

      • @ Craw

I had to stifle a childish chuckle reading your comment. :D
But yeah, LSL (on PS3) was absolute, complete and utter shite and a total abomination AND an embarrassment to videogames to boot.

Worst thing about that is I actually had to play it to realise that … It had a simple looking trophy list … lol

      • I have it on loan from Lovefilm at the moment. Andytorr told me it was the worst game ever and dared me to get it. I also thought the trophies looked easy but the game is so bloody broken I can’t bring myself to play it.

There is no excuse for shitty games in this day and age.

      • You know the most upsetting thing? Not the financial upset … that’s easily rectified, it’s the trophy list! That shit’s up there for all and sundry! Grr … I’d trade a plat to delete 5 ……..

      • Knob.. gag.. hehhe nom nom

  4. Genuine shame. I can see how the subject matter is … touchy, but you make an excellent point with your counter argument Tc, the type of content Shank has in it barely bats an eyelid so why something related to sex?

I understand the issue from Microsofts P.O.V. but at the same time I think it’s not only ridiculous but hypocritical too.

  5. Also quite funny that they decide to not have this game on sale due to it’s ‘sexual nature’ but you can hop on any game online and learn a whole new incredibly colourful vocabulary about what you should do with your own privates and your own parents.

    • Usually from kids too young to actually be able to attempt that stuff too! ;-)

  6. It kinda reminds me of the Flesh Gordon movies :)

  7. double standards FTW, violence is A okay, but sex is a big no no.

and i thought it was the english that were supposed to be all repressed about sex.

    • Just like real life. We all love violence but we don’t like.. wait that isn’t right

      • Haha! L’edOL (past tense of LOL) at my desk.

  8. I just downloaded it to my PC and it’s great :D Really funny.

  9. Always enjoy a free game :)

  10. I find it so strange that sex is considered more socially unacceptable than murder! Surprised to hear this though as it sounded like MS were supporting it at the beginning. Cold feet perhaps?
