So here we are again, another week another Dev Diary. My head is still very much spinning with the events of the weekend – the Expo was really cool. Slightly disappointing that I didn’t play as many games as I wanted to, but cool from the point of view that we had RoChain playing… albeit on a small screen… but nevertheless it was playing. Got some really positive feedback too – it was generally felt that it was a perfect “exhibition piece” as it didn’t require much thought to play. So that was pretty cool.
We met some great people there too in between being greeted by people who knew me (and I didn’t know)! If anything, the whole Expo has fuelled all our desires to (at some point) be there with a stand of our own. I’m more determined than ever to make this work for us, loads of ideas buzzing around, most of which are ambitious but achievable. I have total confidence in the team (and myself) that we will make this happen sooner rather than later.
In preparation for the Expo we had a bit of a mad rush to finish the reboot. We had to very quickly revamp the site, to tie in with our other business related stuff and we decided that the Expo was as good an excuse as any to complete the reboot – so check us out now – www.adarakion.com – new logo, new colour scheme, new website. All good stuff. This was all cobbled together really quickly at the back end of last week, so there will no doubt be various links that don’t quite work as intended or links that are broken – we are working on them but it was the initial “facade” that was important for the weekend. It feels a bit like we experienced a mini-crunch last week – and we survived. Just. There are a few references to old logos etc. which we need to resolve over time, but other than that the main template/lay out is completed. What do you think? Someone mentioned it was very Half Life – that wasn’t the intention at all – in fact I hadn’t even thought about that till it was mentioned!
So what’s next? We can now focus 100% of our efforts with RoChain mobile – it’s fair to say that with the whole EGX prep over the last week that development has stalled a little, but that has actually given me a little more time to read some of the SDK documentation and learn how we will handle a lot of the user interface stuff, which has been useful. Yes, I know, and apologise in advance. A man reading the manual? What’s that all about? I need to rectify that immediately by buying a hideously complicated surround sound system and attempting to blag the set up!
There’s an awful lot of “background” stuff moving along too. Most of which (in fact, scratch that, ALL of which) I can’t talk about – so Ill not. Phew. That was a close one! It just means that a lot of what is on my mind is at the current time un-shareable (if that’s even a word), hence I do feel like I am letting you down on the whole personal feelings side of things, I’m sorry, it’s not you. It’s me!
With any luck over the course of the next few weeks I can start to reveal a little more about our plans etc. but at the moment, it’s strictly RoChain mobile I’m afraid!

Site looks nice, I’ll check out RoChain some time and no doubt donate too! But its late and this is my last tsa checkup before tv and eventually bed, so I’ll be sure to remember tomorrow!

I just went to the website and saw the Rochain video for the first time. It’s a lot more colourful than i had pictured, reminds me of Peggle in the ‘press and go’ structure and also the sense of reward as the chains fill with colour. I could see myself adding RoChain to my ipod game collection, which currently stands at one ,that being Peggle of course :)

Interesting! I actually had Peggle as a visual inspiration in my mind when we were creating RoChain. The iPod version will be slightly different (it has to be due to screen space restriction) but I think it will be a better, more refined version, definitely one we could ask for a small amount for!
