Pondering on the future of Call of Duty, a writer on Gamasutra, namely Chris Morris, reveals the following:
“Industry sources say Sledgehammer’s Call of Duty will be set in the future and feature, for lack of a better term, space Marines, a very big step for a franchise that has historically based itself on realism. “
This is not the first time rumours of a space setting for Call of Duty have surfaced, pre-implosion Infinty Ward were rumoured to becreating something spacey and back in May Activision registered website domains for Advanced, Secret, Space and Future Warfare.

I’ll wager there’ll be a zombie mode – for added realism. :|

When we’re talking about “Sledgehammer,” are we talking about the new name for “Respawn”?
…or is it a third company that gained the rights to make COD games?
Tuffcub
Its a third company – Respawn are not doing COD

Alright thanks for the answer.
I knew Respawn was not doing COD, but since this is, for some reason, the first time I heard about Sledgehammer, I got confused haha.
I’m glad they’re taking Infinity Ward’s place, I don’t even think Infinity Ward is even a company anymore.
..but the real question is, will Sledgehammer be as awesome as Treyarch?
I already know I may not like the whole “Sci-Fi” deal though.
