With news of Kinect selling 2.5 million units in 25 days still ringing in our ears, Sony has hit back with some figures of its own.
Since launch, sales of Move controllers have surpassed 4.1 million units. This excludes stand-alone sales of the PS Eye and Navigation Controller. Pretty impressive stuff and actually more than I was expecting, especially with the rather low-key marketing push.
Now let’s have some more games for both peripherals!

This is wrong. They have shipped 4.1 million units, as in to retailers, they haven’t sold that many

I take it my move bought in a pack isn’t include in the figures? I would have thought most people would have bought move this way, so doesn’t thr mean most peoples move aren’t included in the figures?

Think of how much MS spent on advertising though. Then subtract that from the money they get from every kinect. I’m sure they are still in the negatives.

Based on the reported $500 million they spent on advertising Kinect, there are still running at a cost of $200 (USD) in advertising per unit sold for $149 (USD). Rumoured cost of production was around $50 (USD) per unit, so as it stands they would still be in the red by $250 million.
Lucky it’s Microsoft. Scary to think they NEED to sell their predicted 5 million units by christmas just to break even on advertising (no idea on dev cost etc). Naturally software sales will help claw this back (especially at the inflated price Kinect titles sell for).

They should do God of war:move edtion, Demon Souls:move edtion and GT5:Move edtion, that should sell a couple million.:P
Both Kinect and move are doing better then i thought they would.

Sony have since confirmed that this is the figure pushed to retailers, not actual “sales”. But I guess they wouldn’t have to ship so many if they weren’t flying off the shelves, so still good news!
