Monster Hunter 3 Makes A Killing In First Week

Last week saw the release of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd in Japan, and already the game has shipped over 2 million units. To put these numbers into perspective, it took almost six months for the previous instalment, Monster Hunter Unite, to reach the 2.5 million mark; good news for Japanese publisher, Capcom.

According to the company, the releases of MH spin-offs Monster Hunter Diary and Monster Hunter Diary Mobile helped to reel in a more casual interest which therefore helped to boost sales.

There is no word of an overseas release for Monster Hunter 3, though judging by the franchise’s track record, we could be seeing it as early as next Summer.

  1. WTF?!?!? wow thats impressive!

  2. that’s pretty crazy, but the game is actually pretty good well a little hard to play on PSP in my opinion. Regardless the game is great!! we need a ps3 MH!

    • Though the Wii seemed like the obvious choice to host an MH game (due to the mass number of Wii owners) it didn’t work out for Capcom as much as they had hoped. Brining a definitive MH experience to the PlayStation 3 would be amazing.

  3. Not Suprising in my opinion Monster hunter is the best game franchise ever. I’m tempted to learn Japanese just so I can play it now rather than wait 6 months

    • Need to find a site to import… I’m not waiting for so long!!! so yeah with my experience with Monster Hunter Tri I don’t think japanese would be a issue…. unless I was givin instrutions oh god… I do need to learn Japanese!! D:
