Red Dead Redemption Wins VGA ‘Game Of The Year’

So the dust has settled, the votes have been counted, and Rockstar’s ‘Read Dead Redemption’ has walked away with the ‘Game of the Year’ award. We think that RDR is a deserving winner; not only is the standalone game a wonderfully designed adventure, but it has also received fantastic post release support by way of premium DLC such as ‘Undead Nightmare’.

  1. And the best thing: soon i can play the best 360 game on my PS3 :-D

  2. They have improved this year. But what do they mean by best soundtrack and best score. They are both the same thing. I disagree with the voice actors. i would have put the person who voiced John Marston or Kratos. And do they think that we are dumb? “best perfomace by a human” We can tell the bleeding difference. At least, this year they did not have a cataogory that was powered by Mountain Dew.

    • the fact that the host won it makes it even more ominous (correct word for situation?? lol) but…… i aint played it so cant really judge

    • Score and soundtrack are different. You have to be careful when buying such a thing (in the film world). The soundtrack to The Crow is a collection of dirty-metal type tracks/songs. However, the “score” is on a second disc and consists of the orchestral and more symphonic pieces. The latter being most definitely for more. Utterly beautiful.

This is why RDR won the Score award as the incidental score changed with each new region and was absolutely spot on as an accompaniment.

  3. Well done to God of War 3 and i’m looking forward to playing the best xbox 360 game on my PS3 soon. :)

  4. Agree with everything except Best Studio and Best Driving Game. NFS:HP is crap.

    • In your opinion. Many (including myself) would wholeheartedly disagree with you that NFS:HP is crap. Personally, i think that it’s brilliant & the autolog is genius (IMO).

  5. Well deserved Red Dead is awesome.

  6. Personally, I’m very pleased RDR won GOTY as there were a handful of excellent (but slightly more generic) titles that could’ve easily swooped in and nabbed it.

    • Oh, and Limbo? Bravo! *applauds*

  7. Glad to see RDR win. Awesome game IMO and thoroughly deserves GOTY.

  8. great to see the love for the Red Dead soundtrack. far away was the bset song i’ve heard all year. it’ll take a hell of a lot to top ridding through the planes of mexico at night with only that song playing. utter beauty

  9. I’ve never heard of “Read Dead Redemption” Dan!

    It’s a deserving winner.

  10. Platinum games should have had at least be nominated as the best studio of the year. 2great games released bayonetta and vanquished.
