App Store Gets Massive Release Pile Tonight

As we approach Christmas the App Store traditionally goes quiet on the release of new games, but tonight is an exception: there’s a massive pile of titles releasing between today and tomorrow, with quite a few of the below appearing at midnight.

The highlights are obvious: Firemint’s Real Racing 2 looks astonishing and it’s backed by Gameloft’s AAA shooter, N.O.V.A. 2, but that’s certainly not all.  Look out for a surprise assault on your iPhone from Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and there’s EA’s Battlefield: Bad Company 2 too, which is (we think) launching at 59p.

There’s more, though.  Other great games on the way in the next 24 hours include the Unreal Engine powered Dungeon Defender, Shadow Guardian, a new SEGA Football Manager, a ‘remastered’ version of the sublime point and click Broken Sword and World of Goo for the iPad.

Oh, and an online multiplayer update for Flick Kick Football.  Joy!

  1. The MP update for Flick Kick is live. Looks like I might spending some more money tonight.

  2. Dear Apple,

If you make a joypad attachment you will destroy the competition

    Yours,
    Chris

    • But they wont. The one thing that seems logical and they wont do it!

  3. Holy shit! Bad Company 2 ‘rush’ multiplayer on the iphone would be amazing! I’ll never be bored at work again!!!

    • There was an interesting article.. er.. somewhere.. where a devloper was bemoaining that most of the iPhone games based on ‘big names’ really have very little to do with their namesake, and at best offer rather weak versions of the game.

  4. Lovely to see more “serious” titles coming to iDevices. Hopefully it’ll spur Sony into action and we’ll all be selling our phones to get a PSP Phone very soon. Hey, why did the lights flicker when I said that?

    • I reckon so called “PSP phone” will play nothing more than PS1 games and minis. I’m sure it was referred to as a PlayStation Phone, not a PSP phone. It’s just the gaming press that gave it that tag…

      • My apologies on the naming of it. I haven’t noted what it’s officially/currently called but at least people know what I’m talking about, right? :-)

      • It’s not officially called anything, as it apparently doesn’t exist, remember? ;)

  5. Nice to see Lara going portable

    • Indeed but I think it is iPad only at the moment :(

      • Nope let me correct myself – It’s not only on iPad.

  6. May check out RR2 and BFBC2.

  7. Well tomorrow is going to be expensive.

  8. OH if only G.G were able to put an iDevice version of Killzone. *weeps into cup of cocoa*

  9. Never seen this “NOVA” game before, but damn those pistols looked damn near exactly like the one in Halo.
Excited to see what BC is like!!

    • The pistols look the same because gameloft (the devs) have a habit of copying games on consoles and putting them on the idevices. But nobody cares as most of the games are so good.
NOVA is there HALO, gangstar is there GTA, shadow guardian is uncharted etc

      • As shadow said, Gameloft are well known for just copying successful console- based and PC-based games. For every decent console game, there’s a Gameloft game that is almost a direct copy.

  10. Wow an iDevice BFBC2, why didn’t I see this one coming, and at 59p
This is a definite for me
